Replacement Hooks

Hey,

Recently I cut the hooks off an x-rap that were hooked deeply in a pike.

I am looking for any insight on what the best treble hooks are to replace the broken ones with? It also got me thinking, many of my hooks are old, been bent back into shape, and I never sharpen my hooks. What do you you guys do to keep your hooks extra sharp? Is there value in swapping out trebles on new lures to a higher quality hook?

Gamakatsu G finesse treble hooks. They aren't cheap but they are insanely sticky!

Not a big fan of treble hooks (even the high quality high price treble hooks)

VMC, Owner & Mustad make single inline replacement hooks,
They have an inline eye so you can put it on your split ring
& the hook will remain inline, instead of sideways.

Sometimes in saltwater, two single live bait hooks back to back on a split ring are preferred.
Due to the strength of single hooks over trebles in big game fights (Maybe Musky)

I also like the short shank double hooks, VMC, Gamakatsu & Mustad.

Also known as tuna hooks, but thinner wire! (not to be confused with long shank frog hooks)
When in the weeds you can reverse the belly hook to point upward to the belly to makeing it semi weedless,
tail hook always pointed up
(appropriate sized long shank frog hook on tail of lure will help with short striking fish but not on belly)
No split rings involved, super easy to change with fingers in seconds.
(Bend the hooks apart so you have a 60 degree angle spread between double hooks !
Keeping the two shafts together.
