Hey all,

As promised I'd update everyone on my day on Rice. It was a little quiet this sunday. However, we hit into about 8 LMB, 2 SMB, and 2 Walleye. We spent most of the day fishing worm tipped jigs for walleye, plugs along the railroad for smb, and then the mouth and along the ottanabee river for LMB and pan fish. The musky as always ellude me on rice I haven't seen one to this day(no worries though I am going in oct/nov to the saint clair river for some monsters). Here are a few pics from the day.

I'd have more to post but my cousin was taking the pics and he didn't send those over yet, these are off my phone so excuse if the quality is kinda meh.

Was waiting to see a MONSTER!

Tip on RICE LAKE MUSKIE:

Dont TRY for THEM! lol

- When your fishing for EVERYTHNG ELSE (The muskie will surprise you!)

- When your "Targeting Them"... the odds of a good Skunking are great

From my experience that is true with muskie on all lakes! haha

So very true, we had some time to kill and we were bored, so we decided to troll with the heavier gear and see what happened. I bring the muskie rod with me always and just trol for an hour or so to see if we get lucky.

The main lake was tough to fish this weekend, it almost felt as though the fish weren't even there. I think its because a lot of the weed growth has started to brown and many fish were holding fairly deep. Dunno though still trying to learn rice lake and the
structure in the lake as well. Most of the known spots are heavily fished on rice.

There are some really good Muskie anglers who do well fishing in Southern Ontario. They are also the same people who put time and effort into improving their fishing skills. Time and effort will always pay off in some way

I've never landed a muskie or even seen one on my line. However a couple years ago on Balsam Lake fishing walleye think I lost one. We were anchord along a weed bed jigging with minnows on a jig head. All of a sudden it felt like i was snagged and my rod keeled over and kept going. Like being snagged while drifting but were definatly not moving. Snap it came off, re-tied and dug out the biggest minnow in the pail. Drop it down, again same thing thogh this time I had a minute to feel there was somthing there before it snapped again. My only explanation for it was a huge muskie. Any guesses?

Turtle?

Wow maybe..never once thought of that. I have caught big snapping turtles and be able to get them up and get the hook back. This would have had to be a huge turtle.Heres a pic of a turtle that we accidently hooked up using worms, they cant resist them. http://canadianangler87.picturepush.com/album/229161/9756207/Random-Fishing-Adventures/IMG210.html

Wow! That turtle must have been huge! I've only ever hooked a turtle once and it was a sea turtle, luckily I was able to get the hook out.

That is a brute of a turtle, it must have felt like a snag.

I am hoping to do a solo trip to rice in october or just go with my cousin and relax and troll for a few hours with out having my dad tell me how bored he is.
