Rice Lake Master
I finally got on the road to the cottage around 3pm Saturday afternoon after not being able to get out earlier or on Friday evevning.
I got up around 4 pm and was disappointed that I missed the annual Poker Run. I have seen it every year except this year and was sad. I heard that there was this really sick boat that had a helicopter shadowing it from above the entire way up and down the lake. I am sure they were filming it, must have been a sweet ride. Hope someone will post a youtube video.
Anyways, I hit the water at 4:30 pm and wasn't sure what to expect as all my fishing has been early in the morning over the summer. I have never been out this late once this year. I fished until around 7pm and the action wasn't furious but had fun nonetheless.
I got to my first spot and came up empty. Moved to spot number two and quickly hooked into a PB largie but beside the boat the line snapped, man was it a tank. Landed a few dinks in between a few average ones. For the most part they were small, 2-3 lbs. Couple of average perch also.
Caught a decent largie but again way smaller then the one I lost.
A few more dinky bass later and the action stopped but then all of a sudden the walleye bite picked up. I managed a couple of walleye on the low end of the slot, then manged a decent one drop shoting a Fat Slammer.
All fish were caught a bit deeper in 11-14 FOW. I should have tried shallower water but again with limited time I tried deeper.
Sunday morning went out for a couple of hours and only managed one bass, a dink, very disappointing. Tried a few differnt baits but nothing was working. At least the weather was decent. Stuck to jet skiing for the rest of the day. Cheers.
