My time on the water this weekend was pretty limited. Headed up Saturday morning and didn't get out until about 7pm on Saturday night. Was out for a little over an hour near my place when I hear the wife calling me back. There was a power failure and the kids got scared so I headed in. Needless to say, the power failure lasted until around 11:30 pm so after it came back on I had to get my boat back in the lift. Was tired and didn't even feel like fishing anymore which is a real shocker. Think the 4 hours of alcohol was getting to me. Anyways after about an hour and a half I managed to land about 10 fish, the bite was once again definitley on and I wish I was out there longer. Caught both smallies and largies but the largies were smaller this time around and finally the big smallies came out to play.

Here are a couple of the better ones from Saturday night.

Sunday morning planned on hitting the water real early but by the time I got up it was almost 7:30 so I hit the water for about an hour then I packed it in. Lack of sleep has caught up to me and the power failure made the cottage feel like a sauna. so my sleep was kind of crap. Caught about 5 in an hour but nothing really big. Im sure had I stuck it out I would have been successful but no energy. My spots will have to wait until next weekend.

Enjoyed seeing the tournament on the lake this weekend and chatted with boaters going by. A nice change of pace.

Nice report!! I was there at 5am and did some dock fishing until the boat rental opened was on the water until 2pm. Only caught pan fish and perch and then 2 small baby large mouths :(

Was drop shotting some slammers and cranking some live targets blue gills and nothing :(
But the slammers attached alot of fish. I kept getting nibbles and hits on it :) thank dirk

Glad you had better luck then me!!

Really need to find a guide to go fishing now.

Great looking Bass!

Every weekend ( all summer long) ... I can expect to see you with the Hawgs, just like clockwork.

Well done.

I imagine the power went down due to the rain storms.

Aside from the dangers of lighting/ winds, and inconvenience of Hydro lines down .... WE SURE NEEDED some kind of water!

Thanks as always.

Looking forward to seeing the latest next weekend.

Great looking fish! :-D How deep do you usually fish? I have yet to catch a large mouth (still getting into it, a year or so now - not down to ice fish to cold lol!) but always get smallies once in a while.

Always love your reports too, motivate me all the time when I see those pictures! :)

6-10 feet. Some as shallow as 4 and 5 but some as deep as 10. Generally the majority come around 7-8 feet.

.... your night fishing with a black jitterbug during certain moon phases brings to mind that classic Ontario Out of Doors story from the late 80s (?) "Black on Black" which I swear to this day is THE signature benchmark piece for that magazine. I now have a hankering to blow the cobwebs off my Hula Poppers and Jitterbugs and, dare I say, Zara Spooks!
