Put in a full days work on Friday for a change so I only left to head up to the cottage at about 6pm on Friday. Was quite nice in the city as I was still wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Man what a difference an hour in the car makes, when I got up to the lake, boy was it ever chilly. Temp went down to about zero so I started a fire and had some drinks and just settled in to watch some TV.

On Saturday morning, again it was a chilly one so I waited for the fog to clear before I went out fishing. In the AM I was working a point off an island and only managed a couple of smallies and a Rockbass. Had one other decent sized fish on but I lost it before I could get a look at it. Probably in the 2-3 lb range. Here is a pic from my iPhone as it was to bloody cold for my camera and the housing must have got cold and the motor couldn't get the lense to come out so I had to wait for it to warm up in my pocket.

Spent 2 hours on the water and landed a total of 2 fish.

Went out in the PM after it warmed up and I was noticing lots of schools of Perch swimmin around. They were either just under the surface or almost on top. There had to be hundreds in some of these schools. Worked a few weedlines for a couple of hours again and this time only manged 1 Rockbass. Packed it in for the day and did some chores, had some drinks and hung out with my neighbours.

We are still getting those beauty sunsets on the lake though.

Noticed this at the side of the cottage. Arachnophobia anyone?

Fall is certainly on its way as some of the trees are already changing colours.

After getting a good night sleep, I was up at around 6:30 am but the lake was invisible as the fog was as thick as pea soup. Waited until about 8:30 am before heading out and it was still very thick.

Temp was cool but nicer than on Saturday morning I think.

Decide to try working the river and river mouth for a couple of hours. Man were the Perch on fire. I landed a total of 14 Perch and 2 Rockbass. Guess seeing those schools the day before was a sign of things to come.

Then headed off to work another point and not much was doing. Was casting a firetiger Husky Jerk around 10 am when something absoluely slams mu lure, was like hitting a wall but just as fast as I got a strike, it was gone. A short time later a managed to land something but it got off aproaching the boat. I did manage to see the belly and the flash as it swam away but couldn't tell what it was, I'm guessing either a small bass or nice little walleye.

Anyways after a nice cold, relaxing weekend of fishing and starting to get some things ready for cottage closing, I manged close to 20 fish. Kept some of the bigger perch and did a little slice and dice and now have some filets for a tasty snack real soon. And drank close to a TWO-FOUR! My fish to beverage ratio was dead on....LMAO. Cheers!

Dirk

Lots of good fishing done eh?
Which one do you like better out of the Rickards white and the Alex Keith's White?

The Rickards White is much better. Didn't even now Keiths had a White so I thought I would try it but I didn't like it. The Rickards is much smoother and is way more refreshing.

As for fishing probably bewtween 5 and 6 hours total in 3 sessions. Not a huge amount but better then nothing at all. The Perch action was great though, really enjoyed it.

I've only tried the Rickards white, so I guess I was lucky to have tried the "better" haha.
