Hey all i'm heading out tomorrow to try some salmon fishing and was hoping some experienced boaters would be able to help me with rigging tips. I'll be running a dipsy with a spin doctor to a fly or a spoon on my kayak. I have 30b braid for mainline and 20lb floor for leader material. I'm wondering how much fluro from the dipsy to the spin doctor and then how much from the spin doctor to the fly.

I know when my Dad runs dipsies, he runs 50lb braid to a snubber, which is a shock absorber, to the diver, then 18-20" of 30lb fluoro, to the lure, you'll have to play with the leader length a bit to find the hot zone, it will vary. but run the doctor about 2ft behind the diver

Thanks, thats pretty much what I had rigged out of necessity without the snubber and a little bit longer to both the spin doctor and to the fly. Any longer and it would be tough to land the fish on my kayak. Is it the same idea with a spoon or should I get rid of the spin doctor when I run a spoon?

You could also vertically jig them, its effective with the right technique. Would be easy to mark your lure off a yak too.
