River Bronzebacks this Morning

[Dugger]

..... went out for both fine members of the Crappie family this morning and managed to land two river smallies, one a personal best inland smallmouth for Niagara. These fish are elusive here at best and my god what a fight on ultralight. My PB jumped twice and just took out the line, what a herculean battle. And to top it off I WAS BARBLESS!!!! Pinch those naughty barbs, kids!

Anyhuuuuu, here are two pics one is a nice 16 incher and the other my 19.25 inch sweetheart. Both caught on PowerBait minnows on a 1/8 oz head. FYI the larger guy had red on the bottom of the dorsal fin and tail, some kind of condition? But for the record it is not blood. Nothing on this planet excites me like river smallmouth bass. Incredible.

19 and a quater is a nice size bass.....big fish keep on hitting those small jigs for you eh dugger!

Smallmouth Bass were introduced by railway to Northwestern Ontario in the 1800's I love catch them on ultra light spinning gear too!

Ok...I wasn't sure how you got to see the brookie but when I clicked back twice it took me to my album so now I know...thanks. :mrgreen:
I'll try practicing with the camera some more and hopefully get better at it I especially like to see pics from others on the site so that I can learn how!

Yes, Noobster, got 12 crappies that morning and two were big Whites ( 13 inchers) that hit a plug

Thanks..Dugger I use the out flowing creek to access the lake by canoe as it is much easier there are other ways to access the lake but they are all back breaking work and I try to get out of that!

The brook trout was caught in the fall during the spawning run on Labourday Weekend....Maybe I'll get out for lakers up at the cottage this weekend I allways like seeing others reports & pics so I'd like to have a crack at it too!
