I've never been that lucky, and today is the proof.
I rode my bike up to Conlin Road in Oshawa and hitched a ride up to Lake Scugog where I was dropped off at the cos-way. I had to do some minor repairs to the top eye of the rod and immediately set to work on fixing it only to find out that the entire top eye was broken right off and not just off the rod. Lucky for me, it is a collapsible rod so I just cut it off (to be replaced this week coming with a whole new rod) because I was hell bound to do some fishing.
So I cast my line into the water with a small rubber frog and reeled it in, taking my time trying to mimic the moves a frog would make in the water. I go to cast again, and sure enough, I cast right over some reeds and get snagged. I lightly reefed on the rod hoping to loosen it but I failed, so foolish me goes wandering to try and save my frog. I had my rod in hand as I gently reeled in the line and I tried to pull it free at a different angle only to have my rod snap in half.
Now, I was 24km from home with only one pole on me, so now I am at home, at 8 am telling the world on how a reed beat me up... I am such a fool for trying to get that frog back.
Gord.
