Hey guys,

When you're done with a lure, do you put it right back into the tackle box? I noticed this humidifies my whole tackle box and rusts my hooks.

What do you do to avoid this? Should I poke some holes in my trays?

I have trays like this, but from dollarama lol

Hey MichaelAngelo. I find that cheaper hooks tend to rust. If you spend a little extra you can get hooks that are plated or made of rust resistant materials. Most "brand name lures" have hooks like that these days. It won't hurt to dry lures or hooks before placing them in your box a couple of false casts should accomplish this. As a further precaution you could open your tackle box and place it in a dry warm place when you get home, this will get rid of any remaining humidity.

Alfie.

Thanks Alfie, I haven't bought split ring pliers yet. More of a reason than ever right now. And a hook sharpener =D

If you buy better quality fishing boxes, they will have a built in rust inhibitor that make a big difference in preventing rust. You will probably need to air out those boxes after fishing to prevent the rust.
