can anyone weigh in on the RV9? have heard some good things about it and have an opportunity to pick one up on the cheap... will be running it with the KP imperial but my only concern is it may be to stiff for the pin?

cheers, Bug_Slinger

My fishing partner bought one in the spring and loves it. I'm pretty sure it's designed for pinning as raven only has float reels. I fished it for a bit. Forgiving tip and lots of power in the bottom half. If it's less than about 250 used snap it up! If you don't like it ill take it off your hands

The RV9 is definitely not too stiff...
Its a great rod for small to medium sized rivers...and as leaky said forgiving tip and lots of power in the bottom half of the rod...

From all the reviews that I've read it is considered to be one of the best factory rods available.

great rod all round, combines power and weight. I use the rod myself for everything, Big lake "O" Chinny's and G-Bay Rainbow. It has become the one and only rod I use. I would suggest it to anyone!!!!!!

i second that, bought mines of fisheads and do not regret having done so especially on big waters..great rod for the buck..

Yup the RV is a very good production rod...shitty finish (ask Brian)...use it hard and have it custom wrapped imo

I think the consensus is in... I'll have to pick it up especially now that my float rod blew up on a nook yesterday... on a good note caught a nice rainbow and my 8 year old had 3 legitimate hooks ups on the fly rod, he's stripping line like a champ now

the rv9 is a very nice rod, I just got a 15' IM9 and its also a good rod

Yea the IM9 has got some backbone, Its just for big huron water and maybe a time or two on the niagra but other than that I would probably use something different
