Wow, great job with the imagery there. I could really picture those fresh eggs almost glowing between some rocks with a few chunks of soil sticking to them. "Squandered generations of olympian fish" - cool thought to picture each one of those eggs as a 20+lb salmon that never came to be.

all in all a great read. I think I might have to go to the library after work and pick up a fishing novel, you got me jonesin. Any suggestions?

Yeah there are a few books (but I'm kinda sick to death of reading about fishing and the fly)...I can say without equivocation, that Adams Richard's "Lines on the Water" bored me stupid (I spent 3 years on the Miramichi so I'm not just opining here...)

Again, let me say that the information I received was first hand, from individuals who work for the MNR and enforce their laws.

All I'm saying is there is a lot of interpretation in court. It ain't all black and white, letter of the law stuff.

That chart refers to the spawning fish as unfit for consumption.. The MNR created that chart and set the standard.. So what is left to interpret? -Nothing!

Why would I need to quit my day job? It pays for my mortgage, cars & lifestyle.. My personal business is what will allow me to retire in 10 years.. lmao.

too many chinook in lake ontario anyways, over stocked and overvalued as a sportfish. Stcoking efforts should be focused on Lantics more... why stock fish that are aleady successfully reproducing?

So why are there limits on fish we can keep if your saying its acceptable to slit a fish and leave it on the bank.. whats stopping me from going and keeping roe from 10 fish in 1 day? If a slit them bag the roe amd leave the carccus, whos to tell how many fish i slaughterd?(not acctually going to do this)

Thats like saying what if I keep more fish than I am allowed to keep and eat them before I get caught. You would still be breaking the law.

Wether leaving it on the bank is right or wrong the fish would still count to your limit. Even if you give the fish to someone else it still counts to your limit.

The boat and charter fisherman can't get enough of those nooks :razz:. I think there are about 1 million Atlantics stocked each year into Lake Ontario, but with little progress to show for it. But they do seem to be on the rise lately at the Credit River.

I understand, it was just a scenario i thought about. Just didnt think the MNR operated on the honor system. Thought if you kept roe from a fish you needed the carccus as proof that you only kept your limit. Learn something new everyday!

atlantics would do much better if the shindogs didnt come dig their redds up every year, they get lifted at credit and chinook do not explains why they are seeing returns there.

Can't wait, conservation is one of my biggest concerns. I buy a sport licence, not because i get to keep more fish legally but because i know the extra money i pay goes towards conservation. I rarely keep fish and if i did keep one you can bet i didnt keep it from lake "O" or its tribs.
