Does anyone have some excess fresh (well, this year's) salmon egg to give away or sell? I released two females I had caught and am left witout roe. Bought some of the preserved ones but they seem not as effective. Very much appreciate it if you send me a pm, in case you have some

Along the lines of salmon roe, could someone clarify something? Would it be legal to land a salmon (legal hook) and milk the roe and return it back to the water (alive of course)? Or would that constitute a fine because the fish was out of the water for X-amount of time...?

I'm not saying to milk the salmon dry, but within reason.

I don't think there is anything on this in the regulations. But common sense is that if the catch is within your limits, that should be fine.

From what I've read on another board, you can do it here.

you need a licensce to sell live bait so i would suggest doing that through pm's.

Techniclly, until they hatch, they are not considered "live" bait. Otherwise, catching a female that carries thousands of eggs would be genocide.

just called MNR, its illegal to milk eggs and release live fish.

Suprising to me: legal to catch it, kill it and take the eggs, but illegal to take the egg and release it live. But gotta stick to the rules.

yeah but you cant kill it and leave the carcass behind.

but if you think about it it makes sense because there could be guys doing more than thier limit

which is FIVE
