I am mistaken or was there a link to a site where you can look at the movement or forecast of salmon run in the past... I searched everywhere and could not find it...I think I remember it was at the end of the guide for newbies... If anyone knows would appreciate it if you can post the link! Thanks in advance.

Thank you both... and WpD I know the water office but not sure where i was able to access it am sure it was part of the post on this forum where it was posted to help newbies...

I think you are talking about that gif that was built. I can't remember who built it. It had the graph levels on one side and a paint drawing of how the salmon run and disperse after a rain. It has to be around here somewhere.

Tadaa!! This really helped me when I started too, great tool. The link to the article which also has some great information is http://www.ontariofishingforums.com/forum/topic/16483-a-tip-for-timing-the-salmon-runs-for-the-noobs/?hl=%2Btiming+%2Bsalmon

Hope this helps, tight lines!

I've had people, including a steelhead guide, tell me that it's when the water has risen and is now coming DOWN in flow that the fish will run. Does it vary with species, is there a general rule?

When the water is up it is generally harder to fish because it is fast and muddy. When dropping it becomes much easier to target the new run of fish.
