Hey guys!
I have been on a mission for quite a few years to catch one of every gamefish species in northern ontario....so far i have caught:
Largemouth Bass
Smallmouth Bass
Rock Bass
Walleye
Northern Pike
Muskie
Rainbow Trout
Brook Trout
Brown Trout
Black Crappie
White Crappie
Coho Salmon
Lake Trout
Channel Cats
Bullhead Catfish

Now for the species i have yet to catch:
Sauger
Splake
Sturgeon
Aurora Trout
Chinook Salmon
Atlantic Salmon

Next summer i am setting a goal to find some Sauger...i live north of barrie and really dont want to go south to find them. Does anyone know of any areas north of us that i can go camping for a week or so and catch any Sauger? If you dont want to pubicly post the Sauger holding lakes/rivers please pm me. I have heard that the magnetewan river holds them in certain areas...can anyone verify this?
thanks for any help!

Blue Walleye and Atlantic Salmon! I guess you'll target those when you're done all of the others?

Blue walleye...lol...i dont think i have much of a chance at getting those. I am also not going after albino trout as my chances of finding any are so extremely low that putting them on the list is almost pointless. Atlantic salmon will go on the list though. Thanks for pointing them out.

I'm curious as to where you caught a white crappie in Northern Ontario. I've only heard of them being in the south west portion of Ontario.
I have been catching crappie for 22 years, and have yet to catch a white crappie in the waters I fish.

You're also missing bowfin, sheepshead (freshwater drum), and carp.

Thanks for the comments guys.(and the links joel)
I did indeed catch the white crappie in the southern part of ontario when i lived down there. White crappie in manitoulin island...interesting. Something i'll have to check out. My wife and i have been talking about moving to manitoulin island, and will likely do some camping there next year and check out some of the different areas.

I did leave the coarse fish off the list of species as the list is for gamefish. (though i have caught numerous of all the fish mentioned, many carp + dogfish/bowfin, drum/sheepshead in lake erie)

Eventually once i complete my goal of every species, i am going for a trophy of every species...lol (trophy size is subjective of course...hehe)

While we're on the topic of white crappie, this is the closest fish resembling a white crappie I've caught. I caught this rather large crappie "accidentally" while bass fishing in a Markham pond. He happened to smash my spinnerbait:

This is the only crappie I've caught that looks as pale as this, so I'm assuming it's an actual "white crappie", not a shallow pond discoloured black crappie.

Confirm?

You're welcome. I like the ecometrix site too. Lots of info!
As for the picture, it looks like a white crappie to me... that or someone's really good with Photoshop.
