I fish beside a few guys all they use for roe bags are scarfs and they seem to catch fish with it.I have used scarfs on a couple trips with no luck .
i seem to have better luck with the spawn netting. i change roe bags often trying different coulors and sizes and the scarf just seem to take to long to get off the hook.and that sucks if the fish
are hitting.i know it is probably just personal preference.but i was just what everyone else uses and why scarf over netting or vise versa thanks

I have found the scarf is tougher... good for people whose hooksets cause earthquakes, in case there is no fish the scarf wont rip as easily compared to the netting... I use netting whenever I'm using roe...

I have used strictly scarf for the past 20 years.. It tends to wrap itself around the eggs, which really helps to bring out the shape of each individual egg( I am ocd.. ) IMO, it present the roe in a more "natural" state, when compared to mesh.

Many die hard scarf guys claim the scarf gets stuck in the teeth so they wont loose as many fish.. I use both mesh and scarf and really dont notice a difference but I do like scarf in really cold water when my uncured eggs turn white to fast, the scarf keeps the color better because of the tight holes and the eggs dont look as white as they do in mesh.
