Scouting Tips: Mactier Ontario

Hey Everyone,

In a few weeks i'm going to be heading to a buddies cottage just outside Mactier (not far from Perry Sound). I'm gonna head up early and try to get some fishing in before going there. Whats your strategy in new areas? I want to target Brookies, or any trout on my fly gear, so i'd probably look for smaller streams. I've googled, and used maps, but I was curious if anyone else had some tips on scouting out locations.

Google maps to find bigger pools on creeks/rivers... followed by leg work and bug bites.
