Hey guys, juss returned from alittle shoppin trip in buffalo, got myself some senko wOrms after reading about them. I was gonna grt them at the local CT but all they had were 5 inchers n they looked kinda big. I ended up gettin acouple packs of 4 inch black ones with different flakes to them. Any one got any tips on howw to fish these baits properly! Would be a great helP! Thanks !

I "Wacky" rig 'em. I use a size 1 Gamakatzu Octopus or an Owner size 1 Mosquito hook and simply hook the Senko once right in the middle so it literally "dangles" off the hood downwards at either end. Even on windy days I use this rig drifting 15 feet of water WITH NO WEIGHT! The Smallmouth go nutty for 'em. Five inches is my fave (no jokes please).

As mentioned, wacky rigging is the simplest and most effective method of fishing them. I like to use an o-ring on mine so i dont have to actually hook the senko itself. I find it helps a senko last about 10 times as long, with out it getting ripped up, theyre fairly soft and tear easy. With wacky rigging just toss it out lt it fall on a slack line for a few seconds, close your bail and deadstick it or give a few short twitches. Dont be worried about the depth to much, but give it enough time to sink and work it slow. I've seen smallies come from 30ft to smash a senko just hovering at 5ft. Another great method especially with the 4' models is drop shotting. When theyre deep and got lock jaw, nothing works better. And if your targeting largies in heavy cover, texas rig with a 3/8-3/4 ounce bullet weight. I find the bigger the senko, the bigger the fish and i fish the 7 inch models almost exclusively, also i strongly reccomend you look at the Yamamoto senkos, these are the originals and just seem to produce more fish for me. Stick to natural colours anything in smoke and pumpkinseed is great and always have a pack of whites with silver fleck, they can save your day. I dont think im forgetting anything lol. I'm very passionate about my senkos  . Get ready to put more bass in the boat from now on.

There are a number of ways to rig a "Whacky Rig". Two guys I know .....one uses doubled up Hair Bands (250 For $2.35) he gets from Wal Mart. He slips them over an Emptied Ball Point Pen Case that the Worm fits nicely in. Then slips them over the worm.

Same principle as the "Whacky Worm Rigger" (@ $6.99) and "O Rings" (@ 25 For $2.60.)

The other guy uses "Electrical Line Ties" (Itty Bity Ones for ??? Peanuts) Snaps them directly around the Worm, Snugs them up. Done. It is a One time Use. If and when you want to take it off it has to be cut off.

Other methods are Pictured Below.

Yes! The Gary Yamamoto Senko Worm is a nice bait. 10 for $8.29 and 50 Colours.

Of course Bass Pro has Oodles of Plastic Worms. One that looks good is their 104 Piece "Stick "O" Kit" with a 360 Tackle Box @ $18.99. (Pic Below)

One I really Like is the Mr Twister "Comida" Worm. Designed for "Whacky Riggging". It also has Salt and "Bass Food" impregnated in it. They're 10 for $4.17 and 19 Colours. The also have a "Comida Kit" for $11.57, 32 worms and 4 Keeper Hooks. (Both Below)

I am a huge fan of the wacky rig. That is the only rig I use for senkos because I think Texas rigging them and dragging them across the bottom makes them look like a dead slug. I've had most luck on a senko with a light bottom and dark top. My CT sells Yamamoto senkos for 5$ for a pack of ten. I've used other brands of senkos and cannot definitely tell if the Yamamoto ones are any better, just my CT only carries Yamamoto senkos and I do not want to go to Vaughan to get a pack of cheaper ones. I pitch/flip the worm into openings in Lilly Pads in the afternoon (1pm - 5pm) and then as the night goes on cast more and more away from the lilly's and more to medium depth structure. I used to just hook the worm, I tried the O-Ring and I've tried the zip ties. I fond that the O-Ring would tear the worm on casts and that the zip ties were too lose to keep the hook attached. I now make my hole in the senko using my hook, then put a drop of crazy glue in the hole and re-insert my hook. Hope this helps.

I had decent success last week "sight fishing" with BRIGHT GREEN senko worms - colour was actually called KEY LIME...

This brand sunk a little slower than a real "sinking senko".

Fishing in 8-10' of water over weed-beds that were 2-3' under the water.

Let the worm hover over the bed, and then wait for the largies to come out and smash it...

You have to be right on the hookset or else they are straight down in the weeds. Sight fishing is fun tho...

oooo I like that wacky weedles setup there FishHawk. Never thought of that before.

I too bought this kit. So much variety for one low price. Not sure if Yamamoto's senkos make you catch more fish but I didn't wanna spend over $50 to get a variety of colours.

Last summer is when I started using them after my cousin introduced me to them. And I was killin' it with them. Caught lots of bass and one pike. But then this summer me and my gf have only netted 4 bass on them  . This summer I've had more luck with crank and jerk baits.

. Good idea on the Crazy Glue. Never would of thought of that. When I'm doing woodworking I sometimes use it for a Quick Hold either on it's own or to hold it while the "Wood Glue" is setting up. I usually get it from Home Depot. I use to buy those Little Wee bottles that you'd get 3 maybe 4 uses out of.

I switched to "LocTite" who has been around for a lot of years. They now have 2/3 different versions of "Crazy Glue" with at least 4/5 times the amount of glue in them for the same price. The bottle I have now I've been using for a Month, it's still half full (or empty  ).

I also "Test" anything new I buy. I glued 2 pieces of 1"x2" Spruce overlapping each other. One day later I tried to seperate them. Glue held and ripped the wood fibres apart.

One picture above is a little confusing. The one with the hook going into the center of the worm. Think the part one is how NOT to do it. Also the hook is Angled in the next 2 Pics. I think I woud push the Hook Eye straight up from the bottom until the Point just starts to come through and leave it like that or "Band It" acros the Hook or use Noobs idea and a couple of drops of "Crazy Glue" , top and bottom.

The one with the "Nails" in the end is not a bad idea either. They'd probably icrease your casting distance although there purpose is to add more "Up & Down" motion to the ends of the worm. They show "Regular Finishing Nails with the head cut off. Personally I'd use "Ardox Nails" the "Twisted" ones. They'd probably hold in place better.

I've never tried that "Bait Button" but it seems like a good idea, also for a number of uses. Anyone tried it yet?

Bass Pro has them. $6.95 to $8.95.
Container/Applicator and Re-Fills. I'll put some Pics below.

Thanks Nado. Glad you liked it. Now we want to see some pics of how well it Produced!

420fisherman Thanks we look froward to seeing the BIGGIES!:p

Same for you "Dugger"!

"Float-On".
Yes. I've always had good luck with the Bright greens! Especially the Mr.Twister 3" "Curly Tail Grub" in "Chartreuse" and "Chartreuse Flake" on a Jig Head WITH their Spinner. Bass Pro sells their own Spinners, 10 For $6.70.

Tight Lines All!
