hey all, i recently got my hands on some pro mix 8lb, have not caught anything on it, so i can't judge it's memory. but it is very supple, i casted with my new 8g float, not sure how it handles with 3g-5g float, mending with it is amazing even in a long distance, 25 meters out. i heard lots of great things about it. problem is, i don't think they make it any more. i can get some still, but before then, wanted to know people's opinions and Senshi vs Pro mix and if senshi can hold it's own against Pro mix. mind you, senshi is about 25% more expensive than Promix. till now i used raven line, i don't like the 12lb much, but the eight was amazing, ever since i upped my leader and got me a shot line, i am forced to use the 12lb. I am getting a new reel soon and i like to put a nice line on it. i was suggested senshi. just wanted few opinions on both lines.

Just one more reason to skip shot lines and fluorescent line. They add nothing to the fishing experience and cause more hassle than they are worth! Stick with your 8lb main and be happy! Myself I use 10lb XL or 8 pound maxima and about 12-18 inches of leader material depending on the water conditions. I have been doing this for many years and it works very well. i experimented with a bunch of diffferent shot patterns over the years and shot on the mainline with a short lead is the simplest and most effective with the least amount of hassle. There is no reason to run shot on a leader, and there is no advantage to shot lines. Shot lines are a invention of those who felt the need to run yellow fishing line, that offers no practical advantage and creates a bunch of headaches! Sorry I can't help with your original line question!

I used ProMIx and Senshi. I like both of them. I like Senshi bit more and the only reason is this:
10lb Senshi= 8lb Promix. ProMix is bit ticker . My opininon is Senshi is better line but i just like using ProMIx because of the price. Theu feel the same to me but once again when i use ProMIX 8lb feels like 10lb.
Don't use shot line. Stay away from colored main lines put swivel and then 16 to 20 inches of leader. My experience less work on the water more fun for me.

yeah i am trying to use more clear lines to get rid of my shot line. i was just at the show and did few tests on the 10lb senshi. did break many times before 10lb and i broke off 15 knots on 7 tries. and the line never broke before the knot strength, which is not the best thing.

i picked up two spools of senshi last pring because it was cheap (5 bucks) 6lb and 8lb in clear blue. tried it for float fishing and ice fishing DIDNT LIKE IT. seaguar lleader material is aces.

I'm with PorkPie 100% on this. Drop the shot lines and florescent lines and life becomes so much easier.

As for the fishing lines, I've tried numerous things and right now run Raven 12 lb main. It took a while for me to get used to this line, really hated it at first but now I don't mind it. You can become used to any line you fish, just gotta stick with it.... I put on ~100 meters at a time, I side cast for the most part, once it becomes twisted up, I cut out 25 m and its fresh again. At 12 bucks for 800 m you can't go wrong.

I know i still don't understand why people are using red yellow etc. i personally don,t like it especially when visibility of water is high i'm always scared it will spook the fish :)
But again it does not have to be, just my opinion.

high viz lines does help with mending a lot of times, knowing where your line actually is. if you are fishing in jin clear water, they can see you also, so i would not worry too much about your main line,

I always know where my line is and if water is clear and i see fish from far i will go upstream and present my offering :) ahead of fish, same way as you fly fish.
