honestly i went to some west tribs this weekend--have gone to bronte once before and it was pretty quiet--but man the amount of people out there is nuts---i have never seen that in my neck of the woods---it was like a trout pond---terrible man. i feel for the westeners lol this shoulder to shoulder fishing reminds me of the ganny-when i go there i wait until i can go upstream--at night--not so many folks...to me standing beside 80000 people with lines all over the place is second only to the fish section in a T&T on a saturday afternoon...fishing permits need to be $500 bucks--that will weed out the white bucket guys and the crazies fishing with a grenade...and those guys using a shark hook/ so sad to see...

I think it was the same everywhere on the weekend man, everywhere i went was a zoo. I just want the snow to fly so I can fish in peace. Lol.

You just have to know where to go on some of those creeks, the first hole or two right off the main access points will be insane but with a bit of hunting you can find good spots. I managed to find pools holding fish all three days on the weekend with no one fishing them.

Maybe I just got lucky...

yea i went out on the weekend and spend more time driving around lookin for a better spot to fish rather then fishing

ya my bad taste came from bronte----people EVERYWHERE you would think the fish were doing tricks and signing autographs..

you must learn to embrace the crowds grasshopper, only then will you be able to find inner peace.

Lol. I usually just grab a road kill skunk and drop it dead center of the fishing zone, I love the smell, most hate it. No inner peace for me

Corrct me if i'm wrong, but Petro Canada Park is usually pretty crowded this time of year. If you're serious about catching fish, I would avoid that area altogether.

Yup, seriously. The crowds are one thing, but what grinds my gears is all the trash and general lack of respect for mother nature from some of these people.

Its pretty busy at PCP I would avoid at all costs unless you plan on walking a far way to get away from the crowds.

Sure hope the geen is not going to be like that...........

oh buddy it is going to be that x10! lol

Maybe the rain will keep some of the crowds away but ive been to the geen before when it was completely blown and raining and the river was still packed! lol

There were 15 cars parked at my usual GB haunt. walked in, told the girlfriend "count the guys at this first pool" 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6...you get the idea.
next pool about 45 second walk down the path, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11...

15 minutes of bushwhacking and not a soul for as far as the eye can see. and way better pools :)

Once the salmon poachers can't sight-snag fish out of the shallows, and actually realize they need to fish water where they can't see the bottom, the traffic starts to die down and you start to see more of the die-hards and way less of the "white bucket leather jacket" guys

Dozer is correct, the garbage and disrespect is what is really disgusting.
another thing i don't get... is the guys who setup a stick with a bag for their garbage, and then LEAVE it there. does that make them feel like they're really contributing? lol

^+100,000,000!!
Over the years, I have come to grips with the reality that Salmon season is a gong-show at best and that the debauchery will never end.. but what really fukn kills me is the trash..
FFS, I have literally wanted to slap every individual I saw with a tim's cup on the rivers for the past 2 months.. We all know 95% of those who carry them, discard them soon after..

fukn tim's cups everywhere!

/Rant

oddly enough the ministry and police know this is the hot season for those rivers you would think they would beef up the attention to these spots...pisses me off to high heaven...the crowds are unavoidable yet totally annoying---problem is you cant go that far upstream right now anywhere which sucks....

As I posted here before, I have seen Tims cups left on a guy's private property who kindly lets fishermen trespass. Really stpid. They're (and we are) going to lose access to a good spot if that continues.. '
