Alright, here is my thing I have notice in the last week from when i join this forums. A lot of people come searching the web for fishing hot spots. LOL. People are always asking for new spots to fish, and who doesn't want to expand their fishing maps. But is it a good idea to show and point out good off shore spots to people you don;t know? I am not talking about places like the Holland or Buckhorn were everyone already knows and were these spots are already over crowded. I am talking about hidden spots away from the human eyes were you make your way in a bit and no one been in that spot for years but yourself and a few close friends.

I am not saying everyone are bad and will ruin a spot. But I had a great spot for trout years ago and the owner let people come and fish. But people never picked up their garbage and left a mess every year. The owner put up a 10 foot fence and told everyone to stay off.

I am new to this forums and I don't know if you all are expecting me to share. I don't mind sharing reports on spots you all fish at too like Rice, Bellville, Port Credit, Holland, Cooks Bay and ect. Some might say that I a selfish, but to preserve my joy in the sport I need to preserve my good fishing spots.

Supposedly this forum is FOR SHARING, but in the private sections of this forum..Where not everyone can get in.
I myself will share a few spots that already many people know, but some of the more private spots, I will keep to myself.
F4D go ahead if you want to share, maybe post a report on one of them, and then share that inside the reports section.

The purpose of this board is to share. If you share a spot, you wont have 30 guys there fishing it tomorrow.

Most spots are known anyways.

I know what some of you are thinking, I have a secret spot that nobody knows about, well sorry to disappoint you, but that just isn't the case. Some people that fish those same spots might not be board members here, but they are known. I met a few guys over the winter months that were at spots I thought were "Off the beaten trail", but they knew about them.

Just because you have a secret spot doesn't mean that you catch fish there. I have seen more posts on other boards where guys refuse to share their spots, but yet they continuosly get skunked. If you want to keep those spots to yourself, then go for it.

Refusing to share just limits the wealth of knowledge you can get from other reports and other members.

I don't recall seeing a report from you yet?

Dirk.....

This weekend I tried making a report on Cooks Bay and Mount Albert. I had it all typed up with the maps on the URL and when I clicked on the URL link to see it the maps will show, which it did and than tried to go back to my post it didn't let me. It said something like the page will not let you refresh. I spent like 15 mins on the post with uploading pictures onto my computer aswell and got really pissed after losing everything I typed and left it at that.

I will make reports and it not to get into the private section, don't get me wrong I don't mind sharing certain things with people who enjoys the same things I do. But not all people take fishing as a sport, and those people I can careless where they go and how they do on there outtings.

Dirk you're right, but there's gotta be a few spots you are hesitant to tell people  I know I have a few spots like that. They're not unknown, but theres a very limited amount of people knowing, unlike Simcoe in the early season.

I believe Dirk mainly fishes off shore on Rice Lake...so he has the coordinates...but sharing those would be kinda useless to us shore bound anglers hahaha.
On large lakes like Rice, it wouldn't be as fun to try and find a specific spot you were given by someone else. What I do when I'm on the water with a boat is explore...it's more fun that way. and when you get on the fish, it's that much more rewarding. :(

And in terms of not sharing spots... I think that highly depends on several factors...one of the main things being area available to fish (especially important from shore).
I have a spot that has amazing fishing (lightly pressured smaller lake)...but there is literally only a few feet of space available. Me and the gf head there every fall and average size of slabs are 11 inches... haven't been able to break the 13 inch mark yet, but have seen a 15 pulled out. 8) I've lost many that I believe are 14-15 inches simply because these fish weigh a lot more than the average and I don't want to lift them, instead i go down to lip or grab them. They then get a chance to shake the hook. We only go like 2-3 times a year though as it's a pretty lengthy car ride.
Due to the limited space available to fish, I am inclined to not share this location.

If this was a wide open area with lots of access and everyone could be happily casting, you'd all know about it by now

Let's all face the fact's, any secret spot people may have is more then likely 2.5hrs away or on private land or else the spot is already known. If you only want to drive 45 mins to go fishing then of course you are going to have more than average amount of people around you. Unless you have a boat then this is something that everyone will have to deal with for a very long time to come. Private land owner's don't have to let you on there land so when they do it is outragous that people would leave a mess and still expect to be let back there next time.

Wow Anthony, how you pull that off!?!? I'd rather drive the extra hour for the quality Lol.

I think the vast majority of people that come on here asking about fishing spots are simply looking for advice on where they can catch some fish. There are a few people on here that jump to the conclusion that they're being asked to give up their favorite hot spots. What about the people that are just taking up the hobby or just want to take their kids out for the day to catch some fish?

yeah, just tell them about a places that everyone allready know about, like the ganaraska or pumphouse
