Sheephead?

Pier chucking for some Kings on the weekend with a buddy from here... (he will laugh at this haha) and it is starting get get dark, and my rod buckles over and my reel starts screaming! Really exciting to think I have my first nook of the season.

Get it in... after alot of side to side and dives, it was good, turns out to be one of these drums. I have never got one of these before, from what I gather it is a good sized one?

Ive been trying to hunt sheepheads for a month now but no luck.
Not asking for specifics but where'd ya catch that?

Hehehe! Same thing happened to me 2 years ago while casting off the piers for early salmon. When I hooked a monster sheephead everybody at the pier turned that way and the heads went down when they saw a sheephead is coming out. ! Fun fighting these things though, what a rush!

That's a nice drum, but they get alot bigger than that. They are a very hard fishing fish and I specifically target them at least once a week. They are common and will take anything that they can see, which makes a great time of fishing. Target them at night or late in the evening with a worm on the bottom or a jig head and twister tail. Tons of fun.
