hey guys looking to get a new spinning rod, was thinking about the crucial, its on sale for 99 bucks, any one own one/care to share experiences with it? Also if someone knows of a good new spinning rod med/heavy pref. 7f or over, under 130, please let me know, thanks!

Honestly.... I would just save up a bit more and buy the Stradic FJ. It's not that much more expensive, it's a fantastic reel and it will last you the rest of your life if you take care of it.

Sorry BowSlayer, If you were in the market for a Baitcaster at 7ft MH I would sell you one. Don't have any spinning rods for sale left.

Ya sail has them thanks for the quick replies guys! And cyphus:???lol I'm gonna grab a reel too but probably the stradic ci4 not the fj
To be honest if it is the Ci4+ I would just buy the FJ, Unless your with the mainstream and go for the lighter reels. I Love the FJ and it costs me 60 bucks less.

I do not think they will order it as they have it on clearance. That typically means a new model will be coming in soon and they just want to dish out whatever they have left. As for the reel topic, in fishing it always comes down to preference at the end of the day. For example, I have a heavier reel for my jerk baits and people make fun of me when they hold it. They keep suggesting to switch because the reel is too heavy for them but for a big guy like me, I could twitch that reel all day and barely feel tired.

Ha ha, my bad guys. I obviously didn't read that properly, IIIII'm an idiot. As for the Crucial, I would say buy a St. Croix, you're already spending $100, you can get the Avid series MH 7ft, fast tip for that and they're waaaaaay better rods. I also have an Abu Garcia Veritas 7ft MH that I love, slightly less expensive at $89.

Also, because I brought it up lmao, I'm with AlwaysCatching! Be wary of the Ci4! Two reasons; #1 the difference between the two is pretty much negligible for the cost, one more ball in the bearing (6+1 Vs. 5+1), and 2.3oz lighter (for the 3000)... which sounds great but leads me to reason #2, because the reel is soooo light, it's actually not heavy enough to balance out the rod you buy, which makes a huge difference in the performance of your rod. I'd say have them slap it on the stick you want and check the balance, but it's to light for most rods. That's a lot of hassle and Stradic FJ is $50, especially when they are the exact same in every other way.

I would get the fj also much better reel in all aspects. i have both the fj is a much better reel

thanks guys, ill check out the st croix rods as well as the fenwick line up, I'm not sure what reel i will grab yet, maybe the stradic fj or the ci4+, might even go with a pflueger patriarch, will have to see for myself in store.

From what I understand the vaughn store hasnt had a crucial for 2 weeks. As for comparable rods the fenwick elitetech smallmouth is in that price range...

As for a st croix avid you are looking at 70-90$ more at 170 ect... the triumph is at 89 and the premier will be at 129.99...

I fish ci4's and love them, but dont decide on a reel before deciding on a rod. The combo should balance, not look pretty. If it balances with an fj then go with the standard if you end up with a lighter rod then go for the ci4...

To be honest I will tell you now, the avid rod is just pricier for the same blank as the Rage. I would say get the rage. I have a 7'1 Medium Fast Action Rage with my 2500 series FJ. Best Spinning combo I have ever held! Again that is just me on preference.

Well I ended up getting a Fenwick aetos with the crucial ci4 looks and feels great and I much preffered the ci4 over the fj with the aetos I found like 20 crucials baitcasting model but I did findine spinning model and took it as a backup!
