Hey,

I am looking for some recommendations for shopping in GTA for gear.

Currently I have a very basic setup - Ugly stick + basic lures (pack from Canadian Tire)
I am wanting to get a better setup for some urban fishing in the coming months.

Is there any place people would recommend?
Please keep in mind, I don't have a car, so its TTC transport all the way for me (I live downtown already)

Also, if you have any tips for gear I am all ears..I like to Pike fish back home, but I am willing to try everything.

Thanks guys

There's not a lot downtown aside from Canadian tire stores. You could go to West Marine on lakeshore, (its across the street from the Loblaws, same block as the Guvernment night club)
They have a half aisle of fishing lures and line, plus some nice rods and reels. It's mostly boat rods, but I did notice some decent spinning gear last time I was in there.

fishing is listed in the menu on the left....

I live down near Jillys (a classic landmark) at Queen and Broadview.

Thanks for the link, that place seems to be the best bet for me.

Others you can try..
-Crappy tire @ yonge & Davenport
-Broadview & Gerrard. They had a tackle and bait shop there. *name escapes me atm*
....old china town did have at least 2 shops that I can remember..

Not much around you, but you do have some options..

Al Flaherty's?
-I was going to mention that, but he is limited to TTC.. and although he could bus it there.. It would be a mission.. lol

Yea, remember the TTC is brutal at the best of times, so ideally places that wont take over an hour to get to.
I get hire cars for work from time to time, ended up at the Bass Pro shop once, and was blown away with the section...wish I had bought something!

I know the owner of this site and you don't find it online email him and he will try and get it. Great prices too and I'm NOT saying it because I know him.

I'm a Queen and Broadview guy as well

There's a small Tackle shop at Gerrard and Greenwood. It's called Pro Fishing Tackle. I've only been in once, but it's a pretty decent place. When I walked in, there was nobody at the desk, and Tubular Bells, the theme from The Exorcist was playing...

That's where it is!

Spend a couple of bucks and take your time to go to Le Baron in Mississauga, 20 minutes from Islington statiion going west (bus #1), well worth the visit and you won't regret it. the shop is awesome!, don't expect a bass pro store but they have an excellent customer service, ask them and they'll go over any doubt you may have

If you want to get waders or any fly fishing related gear, Wilson's Fly Shop is just a bit over from you. Queen & Jarvis, I believe.

Again, it's a dedicated fly shop, but fly fishing can be a lot of fun.

Wilson's is great for fly fishing stuff, especially fly tying, going to have to make a trip that direction sooner then later.

AV Fishing Tackle is nice. Sheppard, take the 85 Sheppard Bus to Havenview Road, Its on the north side of Sheppard. In the strip mall. Its the better one on Sheppard.
