Shore Fishing spots... (The well known spots)

Over the years, I've had many people who are new to fishing that want to get involved but don't know where to start. They usually ask me where there are spots where they can fish from shore. So, I thought I'd start a thread that people can use as a resource to get started.

Please add to this thread if you know any well known spots not listed here. Thanks. (Save your lesser known honey holes for the reports section )

I'll start it off:

Port Perry. The causeway on highway 7 gives you limited shore access to Lake Scugog. You can fish the south side or the north side of the causeway and catch Largemouth bass and panfish from this spot.

I'll start it off:

Rouge River @ end of Lawrence Ave.Great for learner.Go early in morning right after sunrise and just use worms and i guarantee you will catch something specially catfish.

If you wana take yours kids fishing,go Kingston.Millions of sunfish there.You will be tired taking hook out

Hey I thought I would throw this in here, I found this spot a long time ago and its tried an tested one of the best off shore spots in Burlington. Take Plains Rd w towards Hamilton, hang a left on Valley Inn Rd, follow down the hill you'll come to a rickety old bridge theirs parking on either side. Tons of Catfish, Perch, Carp, Bass, and Salmon/Trout when their running. If you cross over the bridge and hang an immediate left you will cross another bridge and come to a dead end with parking. In front of you is a trail follow that down about a 5min walk and you get some amazing fishing on the Grindstone Creek, donw go pst Plains Rd Bridge though its a santuary past the bridge, but theirs tons of great spots in this side of it. I have attached a url from mapquest so you can see were Im talking about. Hope this helps guys, worms for anything their works, and if your going for Carp Boilies area must.

Heres a couple more greata spots from shore, take Lakeshore in Burlington and go past Joseph Brant Hospital heading East(towards Hamilton) follow this road and keep left along the water on North Shore Blvd. Go past The Burlington Golf and Country Club and you will come to a stop sign, at Eagle Dr. Follow straight and on the left 20feet psat the stop sign theirs a parking lot called Window to the Bay, theirs great fishing for Bass here in the summer, and in May their are some Monster Pike that come threw too. I havve caught sheephead, and mudcat/carp here as well.
Another spot if their not biting here is to Continue following North Shore Blvd E along the water towards Hamilton, until you come to Lasalle Park Rd, Hang a left and you will go to the bottom of the hill and be at the Marina, theirs some great spots out on the path from shore, Check my pics for the trout I caught their while fishing for Pike in May, I have caught everything listed above at this spot as well. i was going to mention port perry as well.
you can catch:

bluegills
pumpkinseeds
crappie
rock bass
perch
brown bullheads
carp
largemouth bass
smallmouth bass
walleye
muskie

the only fish you will not catch here is pike and salmon/trout.

if you fail to catch fish at port perry.... give up fishing!!!!

port perry is awesome, i used to fish there when i was younger.. i caught my first largemouth there! but now.. it has been years since i last went there, not sure if anything has changed.

I've been to port perry a few times but it was pretty crowded (i don't have a boat and too poor to rent one all the time). anyone know where else i can cast from other than downtown port perry?

It can get a little busy there. I never fish there but have driven by many times. I would try going to the north end of the island past the casino. I can't be sure but I think there may be some access to the water up there. I haven't been up there in a few years. I might be worth the drive.

The #1 major problem I have with this particular spot(s) is not how crowded it is or how it is right next to 7A and how noisy it can be or how short the open water is from the spot.
BUT...
It's all those F'#)(*%)@$% people (majority of THEM) just does not F'(*@#$& care to take back their F'#(*$# garbage back! WHY!! It's only a F'#(*%&) small worm container! It's only that one single F'#@)(*%& plastic bag you brought! What The F! is wrong with them??!!

Back several years ago, there used to be a big garbage can there which usually get filled up faster than whomever empty it out. Now? whomever doesn't even bother and garbage can is gone.
I've even seen group of volunteers with garbage bag cleaning up this specific area.... I still remember the words from their mouth... even tho it wasn't my and I always take my garbage back with I just had to leave the scene.(Well,,, I never have any garbage anyways).

Damn it those people!
Ever since than ... I just release all the fish I catch whenever they ask me if they could have it. I just tell'em there are plenty of fish in here and it's all yours to catch. So I am gonna release my fish so I can catch it next time and just release it right back. (Man... some of the (#*%)(*$ words I've heard to not giving them my tiny fish) Amazing. But it's ok, I don't bother with that, I just throw back the fish with bigger splash on the water.

Do you think it's time for me to carry one of my fishing gear with me?

Other than that... I have to say... it's a good shore line spot to fish for few hours and enjoy!


Oh btw... F #(*&%#)($ to those drivers who drive right over the road side to splash F'#(%*#)($ dust on purpose.

I know what you mean MikeyMIkey, I've fished a spot and seen floating bags drift right past me. I usually take everything back with me because there isn't a garbage bin around.

I definately think you should carry your fishing gear with you!

Totally agree you know when you spend more time taking Garbage off the hook than weed there is a problem and unfortunately in the GTA you run into that more often than not!

Keep it clean don't litter!

Another popular fishing spot.


Bronte Pier:

Well during spring for steelheads (casting lures), never fished there during spring.
During fall, casting lures for salmon. (caught plenty, need some good long handle net)
Also, there early in the morning I see plenty of bass ( I think small mouth) swimming around right next to the pier wall.

Aren't Bass in there spawn right now and if you pull them off there nest that nest is toast?

The bass are there to protect the eggs around the nest from preditors. So the nest will be fine as long as another fish or other creature doesn't eat the eggs while you have that fish on the line.

Hmm... I believe I've said I never fished there during spring. So can't be a spawning time.
I've said Bronte Pier in fall... so it must been during the time I was spoon feeding those salmons.
That is why the bigger rod & reel in the pics.

I lifted up that fish no problem with my abused rod.


Having said that... Openfire can you buy me a say... 12' Medium power spinning rod? I think i need a lil longer rod to cast lil further out there. I need to cast out just past that muddy water and clearer water. (oops the secret tip)

I have seen the smally's at the Peir and they would be easy to catch, yes their are spawning which means they will hit anything that comes remotely close to their nests only in defense of it leading to them being caught. I refrain from this because I have seen fish abandone nest because of this leading to less bass in the long run and its not much effort to drop a lure infront of a fish and taunt it into a hit. You can catch smally's their by just casting im sure but the ones at the peir are using the structure for their nests and thats why you see them, usually a large female followed by a smaller male that patrol the area around their nest. The steelhead are fun their and easyily caught using the right bait,and if you lokoing for some fun jump over to the creek and hunt some in their, as long as you dont mind getting wet cause they can run a long way when thier fresh.
