Everyone has a different outlook , different tastes ... let's all agree to disagree when it comes down to the preffered method and hardware of steelheading.
In this thread we want to know and or see what indeed is YOUR prefference when it comes down to what YOUneed in hardware to be a steelheader .

I will begin ... First of all , some of you may have a MAN'S room somewhere in your house . I have a FISHING ROOM ... with tongue and groove pine walls , for that cabin feel .
I use a Raven Vectra SST 3 and quite recently aquired a generic reel from China , which suprisingly I can interchange the spools and back plate with my Raven .
My go to rod is a Shimano Convergence , 12 and half footer and my back ups are a Shimano Canadian Northern Series , 11 and half footer and a Cold Water IM8 , 13 footer.

My waders are Cabela's neoprene hunters boot foot waders for warmth and durability ( winter )and Cabela's waist high stocking foot neoprenes for spring and fall with Cabela's wader boots.
I use a Bushline vest style vest and sometimes a waist type .

I fish with an Okuma Aventa and an 11'6" entry level Browning something or rather, mainly used to float fish but I do throw lures with it as well. I also have a fly rod, a Fenwick International 8 wt. with a Pluger Medalist. Retro.

I will be looknig to purchase a larger rod, for big water.

Hey, could you post pictures of the fshing room? Sounds like a great hang out.

I just saw the proviso "on the water".............and have to revise my post now

I have a pretty good collection of rods, but the ones I use for Chrome are a 13.5 foot Okuma guide select with a Okuma Raw 2 and I also have a Simano 12.5 foot convergence with a Stradic reel. I have Wright and Mcgill breathable waders and jacket.
In a civilized world, I would go to my man cave and specifically the fishing room and have everything properly organized in there, ready to grab any thing I need at a moments notice ...................I feel so deprived.

lol wish i had a fishin room, by the way your room looks amazing. I just stash all my stuff in the garage  then when i wonna tie my fly's/jigs i do that in the basement where it's nice and warm  i first started like everyone else owned an okuma aventa , and some cheap canadian tire waders. But as i got more serous into this crazy hobby and started making better bucks of course i wanted better and something that woud last me longer. currently i own 3 kingpins and one islander. Rods i own 8wt white river fly rod 10' GLX 13,' IMX13', St Criox avid 13' IM8 13' and Rv9 13'6 call me crazy but all these rods have their purpose lol. waders i use are Simms G4 pro stockingfoot. Also own a few more rods but couldn't fit them all on that wall lol, they are stashed somewhere in the corner smaller rods for bass and carp over the summer. here's shot of my rods

I hang my rods on the floor joists in the basement. Looks like you have a nice selection to choose from.

Lol my garage is sometimes open all night guess u could say I have nice friendly neighbors :) and none of them care about fishing lool

Since I pretty much exclusively float for steelhead ill just list my float setup. 13'4" Okuma Sheffield rod with a sheffield reel, I also have a 8' Quantium PT Tour for small creeks with heavy brush.

I started off this season using an abu garcia spinning reel I had from 10 or 15 years ago and a Shakespeare 11'6 IM7 that I like using for salmon.

I used that for about two trips before I dug out a no name float reel that my uncle gave me and my Fenwick Legacy 12'6 that I have owned for about 20 years.
I then got a used Aventa from a member and used it with the Fenwick.
Then I got a 13'5 okuma guide select and mated that to the Aventa.
I really enjoyed it but had two failures and on the 3rd replacement was persuaded to go with the heavier but more durable Raven Matrix 12'9 which is my last and current setup.

I will say this for the Okuma Guide Select, the action on it was really good for fighting fish on light leaders and it had enough power to turn them. I just had bad luck with failures on two rods but would buy one again.

Wow... That's depressing! Giving it up all together eh?

This is really my first year introduction into the Salmon/Steelhead species so my equipment is really base line products to start off with.

Steelhead setup: Okuma Aventa rod 13’6” paired off with the Okuma RawII centerpin, backup includes a Raven Classic centerpin paired with Raven’s Matrix 12’9” rod.
Spinning gear includes a Shimano Convergence 12’ paired with Shimano’s Sienna 2500FD reel.

My waders are by White River breathable stocking foot neoprene’s and White River wader boots
