The handle is the exact same one I had on the Okuma Guide Series Im8, I like that handle.

Im9 sheffield eh! Where and how much! lol

So goodled to find out more after reading your post with the info :) so its not an okuma rod but it does exist, and the website that sells them its not available, d'oh. The company that makes them calls themselves Sheffield. From reading the reviews it has problems with the tip snapping, same thing that happend to my Guide Series. Too bad I really liked the feel of that rod, it didnt destroy my hand after a day of fishing and side casting big rivers like my Raven Matrix does.

Well Okuma or not if this is what its worth im a happy camper.

Hey brother, been awhile for sure, I think notta was more just asking for that exact reason. We're all down and technical when it comes down to it, and we all use different stuff, just because your gear isnt mortgage worthy doesn't mean a darn thing. I personally think terminal tackle is a lot more vital then your rod and real combo. I was actually considering bringing my three foot ice fishing whitefish rod down to an extremely popular east trib and seeing if I could still put the boots to most lol.

Here's my new steelhead setup.
3 foot micro light ice rod.
Shimano seinna 1500 series
Lol

Seems almost criminal to have good gear around here sometimes. Im gonna start carrying around a sh!tty Canadian tire combo to use in all my pics from now on so noone judges me and my mid level pinning setup lol.

Hey man I'm pretty sure 90% of us fish with mid level river setups. I would have never converted to pin for the soul reason of fitting in, I loved the idea of it and had no idea it was even practical. Lol.

maybe someone on this board will see me catch a fish one day so i can go around saying im the badest drifter on the block.

Argh, I just typed a witty response and my internet went down.

Here's the boring short version, you can spend half your income on expensive gear and pretty looking steelheading outfits and catch nothing while the guy with the 35 dollar float rod and spinning reel catches fish all day. You can also have a guy with a pretty pin outfishing everybody. The gear does not make the fisherman, skill does :)

I wonder what it is with people stereotyping float guys for having their gear in pictures, I've done it long since before I owned a pin, I like to use the rod/reel as a frame of reference for how big my catch is, lol.

Luke, did you know that the Okuma guide series has a lifetime warranty?

hay guys its beef i think i jumped to conclusions sorry if i offended anyone but as far as what i use its an angler specialty 4.5'' offset centerpin and a 14' sage rod or my 17' spay rod but thats enough about my gear fishing is great right now i will post some pics from tomorow morning good luck and tightlines ttyl

Spinnin, yeah I know it does :)

I went through two (one the tip guide lost its insert and the other the tip broke) and I decided risking a 3rd was too much. I decided that my 2nd replacement (and 3rd rod) should be something a little tougher, I didnt have to pay a cent for the returns thanks to some good customer service from SAIL.

I would buy the guide series again in the future when I am ready to have 2 pin setups, it really is a steal of a deal for the price. For now the action of the Matrix will actually be better suited for when the boots start to run in august; I'm hoping to finally get some browns again :)
