I've been to a couple of popular rivers near Toronto. The rivers are low and clear, but the small trout 5-9" are loving my wet soft hackles.
I've pressed down my barbs and the fish are surviving nicely.
So, I'm moving down to a 3 wt. Fenwick. The 4 wt is good, but I want to feel the tugs and bumps on those short 18' casts upstream, but still be able to deal with a 14" brown, should I get lucky.
I know there are some nice brownie holes around, but because of the drought, they may prefer midnight feeding to daylight and I have enough trouble negotiating pathways and rocks during the day, so, I'll stick to daytime.
I realize in 6 weeks, I'll bring my 7 wt. to the L. Ontario tribs for obvious reasons :=)) but for now, I'm loving the small action on light equipment.
Just wanted to share this. Hope someone has feedback
