Hey,

I've got a question that I cannot seem to put a definite answer too. Can smallmouth bass live in warm water, such as in the southern united states, or are they more cold water? Thanks.

Smallmouth bass, historically, Noobs, were found only in the Great Lakes drainage and Mississippi watershed... say Southern Ontario/Quebec/Maritimes down to northern Alabama, Kentucky over to eastern Oklahoma, then back to South Carolina and back up the eastern coast.

They have since been introduced to Texas and many western states and of course, British Columbia, Vancounver Island has an incredible population. The world record is in fact from Kentucky.

Thanks for clearing this up for me!

I should have used that hallmark - the Ohio river drainage - as well

these higher elevation waters (on either side of the Adirondacks) have the cooler, clearer waters required by smallies.... but, yes, like here it can get hotter than heck there in summer

Yes, they can and will flourish in warm water.

I liked that post though Dugger! Good stuff!
