Over the last few weeks, I've been sneaking away when ever I can to my local river. Soon trout season will be closed and I'll turn to Steelhead and lake run Browns, but for now I am enjoying stalking browns with my 3wt spey. To the diligent, the river can produce the occasional 18-20incher (every few years) but for the most part 10-14" fish is considered respectable. There are lots of 4-8" browns and rainbow on most days. Today I was blown away when I hooked into a 16-18" Atlantic. My first on the river. It exploded in an aerial exhibition the Snowbirds would be proud of. After 4-5 spectacular jumps it threw the hook and went on its merry way, it’s not something I'll soon forget.
