Today was the day that my little brother will finally get his G1, and since I was going to go to Victoria Park / Lawrence, with the help of google maps, it showed me that I'm only 10km's away from the Scarborough Bluffs.

BUT. Before I get into that story, I went and bought some new braid at BPS today. Man! What a STEAL! Looked around for different braids, and came to the conclusion I wanted to try the new Tuf Line DuraCast. The price tag says 14.99, but at the counter it says 12.99. So now we have the New TufLine for the same price as Spectrex Braid by PLine I believe.

Got home, Spooled up right away, and took off to drive my brother.

Arrived at around 1pm, and saw 2 other people fishing also. Only saw them cast a couple of times, and they disappeared somewhere. Didnt see them catch anything. It was windy and the wind was right into your face, although it wasn't too cold, but the pictures just can't justify how windy it was. At the mouth of the bay, the water was splashing and rolling hard.

All around me were hundreds of mystery birds and a lot of swans. Some of the swans even have big yellow tags on both their wings.

Started to cast around, walked around, casted again, nothing. I stayed there for approx 1 hour because there was a huge lineup at the driving test centre. and I'll just assume it's too cold to hold any fish at all for now. Overall, the water is VERY dirty, and during a few casts, I caught what looks like a used tissue, and something like plastic wrap.

But besides the failed report, I have a fishing line review.
TufLine Duracast - It's supposed to be a series of lines specifically made for spinning gear, and was meant for better casting.

The colour of it is in between powerpro green / spiderwire invisibraid (the translucent one) In other words, I'd just say it looks like its faded line even before you have it in the water. It seems to also hold in a lot of water inside the braid. After being left to dry for about 2 hours, the braid itself sitting on the spool still feels wet, although the water doesn't come out. This line really is quieter than other braids, but there still is some sound. Casting distance I will have to try out again, but I don't like it that much. Although you are casting it out more quietly, it doesnt seem to go very far. It might be the quieter braid causing more friction or something. No clue. I will try that again in the near future. Finally, I think this will be a tough braid, but I haven't really gotten a test with it with a fish on the other end of the line.

Im also wondering if i spooled up improperly, I bought a 125 yard spool and it looks like I didnt even use half of it when Im using a 2500 sized Daiwa reel.

At the moment, this line is getting a rating of 6/10, but hopefully it changes as it gets worked in or something.

nice report and good review on the line!

whereabouts are you? richmond hill? i thought you'd be closer to me. i live like 5-10 mins away from lucky and about 20 mins away from scarborough bluffs.

btw... at least those swans don't pose a problem...what really pisses me off is when there are seagulls and they LOVE to chase down your lures.

Lol. they swim around where you cast thinking it's food.
And yup, I'm from around kennedy and 16. It's a long way from lucky, but when I need to get live bait, I'll get it from there. i USED to be like 10 minutes away from lucky, but that was before I met my friend at Lucky, and almost 6 years ago.

BTW, Until I find more good points about this line, i don't think anyone should get it. After some more research on the line, I find out It's RIDICULOUS, the line diameter is CRAZY.
24lb. test tuf duracast = 12lb. Mono diameter.....
Stick with powerpro / suffix / tufline XP !

wow...that kind of diameter is the very reason why your casting distance seemed so much shorter.
i'll stick with powerpro when i use braid.

probably true, but I can't believe that 0.1mm makes that big of a difference.

nope, its a super old reel, Daiwa Crossfire --> the ones where they still had the ez-cast button.

BTW, is it normal for braid to be wound up and then on the cast get caught on to each other?

I'm guessing here but I really don't think it's the line,

if I understand u correctly the reel has a cover over it and the button on the back click down release and the line comes flying out correct?

If that's the case, the actual part of the reel that hold the line is a LOT smaller than a spinning reel like 1/2 size in width I'm not on about how much line it holds but the actual width of the round reel part what ever its called.

.: I figure you will have more resistance. Also the age of the reel wear and tear.

Also braided I do not use but it's supposedly a smaller diameter so I highly doubt the line is the issue here.

Try it on a spinning reel and compare also grease the beast man u gotta do that for improved performance. Like I said though just guessing.

Great report. Better luck next time. Thanks for the line report.

I was up at BPS today to around lunchtime, too bad we couldn't meet.
Had to pick up my 2 new Interstate Marine Batteries.

I work(Midland & Finch) about 5 minutes from Lucky.

Dirk..................

Yawn, You could be right, but this line diameter is already more than any other braid i've seen. 24lb braid should never be even close to 12 lb mono diameter. But yup, I probably still need more tries on it.

And Diggy, are you gonna be at BPS during the spring classic? I might make another trip there probably on the 6th or so. No clue yet. Maybe we can meet up then?
