Forecast 40% chance of rain.
No rain predicted the week prior.
Myself.
The Gan bows love red.
This will be my start colour.
But never be shy trying the single egg.
Always amazed at how even in dirty water they can still zero in.
And I always hit a couple on brown flies.

Im stuck working. So I can only get out give or take wed-friday

Sorry to hear that Paul.
I seem to recall your out Ottawa way.
No experience out that way myself.
But if you can get to Hope .
The week after and sometimes second week after opening there can still be some nice bows to be had.
Good luck.

Yep Ottawa. Nothing around here. I'll be hitting the ganny and other tribs the week after opener. I hope the water temps go up a bit. It's been near freezing well here at least

April 22nd is the opener date for most tribs correct?
nope, 4th saturday in april, that means midnight of the 23rd

as for me, my plans are to catch a few fish, explore some areas i haven't been yet, and have some fun. had to take it easy and only fish a few hours last year due to appendicitis surgery 2 weeks prior.

At the moment not sure where I will be heading out to. Still in search of my first Steelhead with my new pin.
Being from the Guelph area I have fished what's close like the Credit and Bronte Rivers however I may head north to the Maitland River.
Received my Fisheads Rainbow Trout Roe in the mail a week ago, roe bags all tied up ready to go

Niagara! If ya dont wanna waste time.... rite now its your best bet.

The Niagara River is definitely on my bucket list of places to fish, however I am a little intimidated to fish there. I assume there are other places to fish other than the Whirlpool?

I wouldn't suggest Niagara if you're just starting. It's tough to hike down and up just to practice with your centerpin. Credit would be a good choice, plus if you make a lot of friends here, a lot fish the credit so you can probably tag along for a meetup when they plan one. Hopefully you get the hang of using your pin and we can see some great pictures.

maitland is a big system, you shouldnt have any problems hooking into steelhead, im sure there will be plenty around....i used to fish the maitland on bass opener with the float rod and reel.....those smallies really smash those leeches hard lol.

The Maitland is one of the best river we have here in Southern Ontario. You want a challenge in catching some chrome go try the Maitland. So many times I've seen people get skunked (even guides guiding people) but once you find the fishes its rewarding.
