Went for some Walleye at one of the Kawarthas lake. Moon was bright. No wind. Hardly anyone on site.
I got one after less then half an hour of Fishin and nothing else for 6 hours of fishing. This Walleye is roughly 1.5 lber.

My other Experience shore fishing Buddy outfished me , He landed 8, and kept 3 for his limit. While I only kept one. He fished that area for years and fish one specific spot all the time.

The batch that will eventually end up in our belly.

Home made bucktail lure I used to land the fish, but lost it after it got snagged, then added my oyster extract. My buddy used worm on slip sinker, we both have to bottom bounce to bring the lure close to the bottom. It was difficult to fish down there. Snaggable bottom. Moving current prevent my presentation from getting too close to the bottom without getting snag. My buddy has the better hot spot with current just flowing right, since he fished there for years. We snagged each others line quite a bit. To avoid his line, I cannot do the right presentation, We will have to bring minnows next time was my suggestion.

Nice report Josh looking forward to the weekend. I fished at the liftlocks running river it was a very snagable bottom lost alot of hooks but there were 2 other guys that were using live leeches that wasn't snagging & catching alot of fish.

Images fixed. I was not sure the reason Photobucket images did not work.

It was my first fish down there. I will be more prepared next time I get there. Even if I am somewhat exprience in Boat fishing for walleye, another shore fishng spot is always another challenge.

I spoke to another locals fishing down there at 3am, he was using streamers and Pencil leadweight to avoid snagging when he bottom bounce. If I was at the right spot(my fishing buddy's spot), I would also catch more even without a worm. The fellow said the scent on a lure is secondary in catching walleye there, just have to work patiently for walleye to come and get it, so he does not use worms or Minnows. One reason the place is not easy to catch a fish unless a person is at the right spot , one need to get used to the way current flows. I cannot make my line tight, the current was flowing towards me. If I let my jighead sink too long, it get snag, retreiving too soon, will make my lure float on top. The experience reminds me of fishing Niagara snaggable whirlpool. Many of us need to lose some tackle before understanding how to work with the current.

I know using Minnows is the most logical solution, The bait will do its work . However, there are also rock bass and another smaller fish that might take the minnow, which was happening to my friends who was using worm.. When I landed my first fish , my home made bucktail flowed right in front of my friend's spot , that was when I landed my walleye. I was assuming I would do better , since no one was landing at first. Everytime I tried to do the same presentation, I snagged my friend's line.

I have to go back and experiment, to find out if using Minnows theory works better than using worm , so I can invite some of my other friends afterwards, otherwise fishable spot is good for one person only . The area is not for the inexperience unconfident angler for sure. A local also told me where to aim for carp. Walleye comes and go depending on how much current was available for the day. Time and lack of sleep is needed to have successful fishing down there, It is a good spot for someone who knows how to fish it and want some fish home for dinner, otherwise I normally do not enjoy using live bait. Walleye fish hardly fights and nibble lightly in general. Weekend fishing is not advisable over there. More aggravation for sure.
