So I'm sure this has been talked about several times before...
What should I do?!
I just bought a baitcaster thinking it would be a challenge but in the long run worth it. So I got used to casting and not letting myself get a birds nest every cast.
Now the thing is, I cant cast nearly as far...and my spinner rod is a 6'6".
I don't know if I should take it back or try a new line? I am using a 15lb Ugly Stick Braided.
Any suggestions, I am frustrated.

spinning and baitcasters have their own pros and cons, if you are after distance go with spinning

I was told by several people that baitcaster can cast alot further than spinners.
I really don't know what to do

It really depends what you're throwing.
Spinning setups will cast lighter lures further.

Play with the braking system to get better distance.

I find that I can cast further with my baitcaster when throwing suspending jerkbaits for pike compared to a spinning. Same lure... same line.

So today I tinkered around with the settings on the reel alot more...going deeper into the magnetic drag settings. I realized that 5 of the 6 were engagded. This was a big reason why I was having so much trouble. I set it to 2 and to my suprise... its easy! took a few one eye closed with the tougne out but I've pretty much got it now.
