I'm looking for a rod that I can fish plugs and spinners in streams for steelhead/salmon with, but can drift fish as well. Budget is around 300, and needs to be available at Bass Pro, Sail, Gagnon, Lebaron, etc. Thanks OFF!

I would probably go with the St croix avid 10'6 ML or Medium (6-10 or 8-12), At Sail they will run you 260$. You could also look at the wild river series by st croix, they are a little less expensive at 220$ (again sail) but offer a lot of the same features as the avid series. Again I would be looking at around the 10'6 size in either a medium or medium light configuration.
Hope this helps

check the okuma celilo line. they have casting rods for steelhead. I have used this fishing with hot n tots on streams and rivers. and have fished on marinas and big water casting plugs for pike and bass. very versatile rod. I believe it was $79 at lebarons. or go for an hmx fenwick.

I actually have an 8'6" Celilo that I got for $30 at Gagnons that I use for drifting small tribs. I will definitely see how an Avid feels. Would the 10'6" ML be able to handle 3-4" Flatfish and Hot n Tots?

I will second the Fenwick HMX, very nice rod for the money.
