Hey guys, I am very excited to get out on the water this weekend for some opener pike. I have a cottage on Glouchester Pool in Port Severn and have been fishing these waters quite religiously over the past few summers. I work part time and live up there when Im not away at college. Anyways I was wondering if anyone has some new tips / tricks for me this opener. I usually find myself with a large tackle box but it seems that every summer I use the same lures, I mean like everyone we stick with what works. On my lake I find Rapala Huskyjerks, x-raps and spinners generally work like a charm but was just wondering if anyone has some new methods I could give a whirl.

I few of my friends spent this past weekend at Muskys Landing just on the other side of the locks from where i'll be fishing this weekend. They, along with a few posts I saw on the fourm mentioned that fishing was pretty slow thus far and it seemed like almost everyone i've talked to this week has had a tough time getting the pike to strike on this past weekends georgian bay opener. I assumed that the pike would be more active since the weather has been warmer than average for this time of year, but from what i've heard it hasint had a huge impact on their activity. What are some good methods to get those sluggish spring pike to attack a bait? Any help would be greatly appreceiated.

Also if anyone is in the area this weekend, i'd love a fishing partner!

I would try slow rolling spinnerbaits or running a swimbait around good weedbeds. Live bait is a good one too; find the largest minnows you can and have them rigged under a bobber.

xraps and bucktails. try to change the speed and twitch the raps.
