Can't wait less then a month away some good fishing to be done. I'm going for the entire opening weekend starting Sat May 2 right at midnight fri. anyone else going to try there luck at spring WALLEYE.

definatly, i've also heard that walleye are very easy to catch around canada day, is that true?

I'm not all that sure last year was the first year I went up to brighton and it rained the entire weekend but we kept at it anyway we caught a few small ones and some nice size pike. Hope this year the weather is a little easyer to deal with and the fishing is better. After opener I usally fish for pike since I don't eat fish but like the fight and anyone that has caught a walleye will tell you they come in like logs.

Anyone have any tips that could make a weekend of fishing more enjoyable and produce more quality Fish. I have also been thinking of buying a derby ticket but not shure since there are alot of people going to be fishing but people always say "You Cant Win Unless You Try" and it's something like $30.00 a ticket which is not bad since the biggest fish of the weekend wins a boat. Any tip may help and would be very appreciated.

somewhere on this forum i posted the ingredients to a mix that you soak minnows in to attract more walleye, if i find it i'll post a link

Well with less then a week left to go until some real fishing starts(for me atleast) I have been getting my gear in order. Putting new braid on all the rods making sure that I've got the proper bait, needless to say but I can't wait 8) I bought a derby ticket this year since you never know when the big one will strike, last year the winning pike was just over 20lbs what a monster. Anyone else getting out to zone 20 for some great walleye and pike action :p

Walleye and Pike open on may 2 in zone 20 witch is lake Ontario were heading to brighton but the fish can be caught anywhere in the zone and be brought back to the derby base located in the bellville area. Not 100% sure where it is but will find out and post. The derby has prizes for the biggest walleye and biggest pike caught on opening weekend. HOPE IT'S ME :p

Cool, thanks for the info, & good luck!

Going to need the luck but if I do get the big one I will most likely be claiming it's skill  8)
I actually made my first Lure yesterday, I had a lure that worked very well for pike in the past years but it is too small and wanted a super size version so I decided to try to make it. It look's the same but we all know that does not mean that it works. Hope that I have a chance to test it before the weekend. I've heard somewhere that bigger lures catch bigger fish. The lure I made is a inline spinner that is weedless/snagless and is the size of a musky lure. Hope it helps in the hunt for the big one. :D
