I was fishing the Ganny last Saturday and it was a blast. I am planning on going there tomorrow morning, anyone know if they are steelies are still hitting ?
Yup there still there not as many but with the rain coming it should help bring some in. Best spot seems to be right at the mouth and as you know you can only fish the CNR down to Lake O. Also with limited space now it gets crowded so get your spot early.
in my opinion, the ganny just gets better and better from here on out. Best time for numbers and size is when the ice gives. But yea, there are plenty chrome in the ganny now. i have caught a couple at night but its slow fishing. few and far between, maybe i just am bad at night fishing, cause i don't get many.
Mykester yes you can float fish at most places and don't forget water levels change with rain.. There are lots of spots along there you can float fish as you will see most fisherman doing.
I was at the Ganny yesterday and it was a cold rainy day, however I did bring in one close to 3.5lbs. It was very slow fishing but patience is required. I caught it float fishing a orange roe sac (home made of course) hard water cured and salted with sea salt. I had a 4lb fluorcarbon leader about 24" long. I tried fishing along the usual wall beside the boat launch, (2 were caught by another angler) but later onI I moved over to the first walking bridge and crossed over to the other side, I then fished on the north side of that bridge (narrow section), I cast roughly to the center of the river and my drift was hit just as it approched the walking bridge. If you go, you should definitely give this section a try. Good luck to all and catch a big one
