Hey guys, I've been on vacation in north carolina for the past week, and nothing so far would have interested you guys (well in fishing terms), until last night.

9:00 PM
Shark rig on my surf fishing rod, lighter tackle in the water catching my bait (croaker (in the drum family), or pinfish, which I believe are in the sunfish family. Sun is setting, and all the shark fishing guys come out to the end of the pier with me. 10 minutes after the sun set, we had skates and rays all over our cutfish. But not on mine. But soon it was my turn, and i got the big boy of the night.

Pretty neat things. I'll be heading back tonight, mainly looking for a big cobia or shark. This is my last night here before i do the two day trek back home. Hopefully will have some cool pics from tonight.

Awesome man! Never know what you'll get outta the ocean. Good luck with the hunt for cobia ;)

Wow, that is a cool looking ray! I usually spend a week or two in Florida and catch them alot but much smaller... They fight good!

Post some pics here if you get a shark!
Lol no shark that night, only some croakers, spot, and pigfish, and also a huge blue crab on my pig fish head lol

Thanks man, didn't happen though :(. It's sickening what those people will put on the cleaning table at the piers out there. 2" spots, a 9", skinny cobia with absolutely no meat to it. Plus it doesn't help that the piers have this deal where you don't need a license to fish on them, plus america seems pretty loosey goosey on nature regs. One guy took his limit of trigger fish (20) and came back the same day and took 5 more.

I actually haven't been to florida yet, but it's definitely on my bucket list.
