Was just in the Great Smoky mountains and was looking for some quick fishing action but without needing a licence. Discovered a place up in the hills, just down from a cave with a beautiful creek running through it.
Found a place. The pond was literally no bigger than a backyard pond as you can see from this pic.
Look closely and you can see the fish. When I went there were even more. Highly concentrated. I paid the 5 bucks to fish and $4.50/lb for each fish. I donated the fish after keeping it since I had just ate lunch and I was on the road so didn't wanna stick around for them to prepare the meal.
It is impossible to not catch a fish in this place. If I lived close by and had a freezer to keep them in I could have fished there all day. All the fish were between 1 lb and 2.5 lbs.
So here's my question. I've fished twice at Glen Haffey and once at some place outside Hamilton and didn't catch. Neither did my friends or anyone else that was there within view, except one guy. Though my cousin went to Byrd's in Stouffville once and dominated.
Why aren't there places here like this one? Small ponds with high concentration of fish. Also, why aren't there any bass ponds for pay to fish and keep? I've always been curious about this.
ps. Had to use a gripper because he kept squirming out of my hands.
