How many of you guys or gals have put studs in your wading boots and have they made a big difference for you? Are there any negative of doing this?

its doabe, just don't use screws long enough to puncture the soles, also, some boots have interchangable soles with studs on them

I ahve Cabelas Wading boots and I have put studs in them.
Makes a huge diff I would not wade without them. You can also use sheet metal screws

I'm think of getting the actual studs that are made for wading boots. The type of thread they use is better than a standard screw, so I think they would last longer and hold better.

would make walking on rocks a little interesting, just remembering my baseball days with metal spikes on the cement floor of the dugout lol

You mean these studs?

I have korkers with interchangeable soles. The only time I change the studded soles out is when rafting. They grip the rocks really well. Totally worth having studded soles

I decided to try the studs this season. I chose the Simms studs for Vibram soles (because I have vibram soles...lol).
For starting off I used 7 studs on each boot, and I have 6 more for when any are worn out...I have only used them for about a month so I can't give a good review of them; but they do the job well...
No regrets thus far...

I have the Simms studs on my guides and I love them! Super handy on steep and slippery banks not just all about the river itself but all around great traction is a bonus. Been using them 2 years now and haven't lost any and they show no wear at all!! Well worth the few $$
