So about 3 months ago, I purchased a Daiwa TD-Pro from BPS and it was on sale at 79.99. Ok good deal, but when I go home with it, I notice that the bail just wasn't closing. You could open it, being to reel, and the bail doesn't close and begins to spin at the open position! Ok maybe that one was just a bad reel. Went back 3 times, and finally decided I would refund it.

but YESTERDAY, I went to BPS again during the reel-trade in, bought myself a Shimano Sahara . OH GOD! Smooth, and everything, bail works perfectly, BUT when you being to reel fast there is this super loud gear grinding sound. AH, the person working at the desk gave me a reel in a box that was already squished (kinda deformed). And I STILL TOOK IT

So AGAIN, I have to drive the 25km's to BPS, and go for an exchange ..........I don't know, I guess I really am unlucky when it comes to buying reels.

Thanks for reading my rant!

with all that extra drive you had to do...
your savings is down to $0.

Crack open the box on the spot and do a quick test before you bring it back home now.

When I buy any reels, I make sure the sales guy breaks the little sticker seal on the box(SHIMANO'S) in front of me. That way I know its new. Then I take it out of the bubble wrap(SHIMANO'S) and test it out.

I'd say that is bad luck. Hell of a long way to drive. I have always liked supporting the local guys, not the best price all the time, but definately better service. Not worth the long drive from Ajax to go to BPS when I can go to Gagnon's, Tightlines, AV, Lucky......

I was at BPS yesterday afternoon, only because I was up in the Woodbridge area, and this was one of the only times there have actually been employees on the floor answering questions. Was also great that they had all the vendor reps on the floor to help out.

Was way to busy for my liking. Especially hate all the ignorrant DONKEYS that bump into you, stand in the middle with their cart, don't move when you say "excuse me".

I spent about $120 bucks on various items. I bought a new net, not the one that was one sale for $18, but a bigger one that I can use to land all fish types. The $18 variety is to small for musky, pike.

Dirk....

Dude, that is so bad luck. I'd be furious!

Like the other two above me said... i will usually make sure they break the seal/open it while i'm there and i will take it out myself to test it...make sure everything is smooth.
sahara is a nice reel. can't go wrong with it (a good working one, that is)

I guess I didnt mention enough info. I did try reeling and everything, but the sound only comes when you reel it in fast!

I did try everything, and I thought I would be very happy for once. BUT it wasn't the case

By next friday I'm going back there, and I will exchange. I will think about trying other stores next time!

I also bought the Sahara yesterday, and it is a great looking reel. I better check it when i get home today. Didn't try reeling it fast yet, but it sure is smooth.

I honestly think its a really nice reel. Very good product for its price.

4 Problems with it though, 1000 and under size sizes are graphite, plastic drag adjustment, no extra spool, and (its not really a problem), but they are kinda look ugly in photos

yea the panfish setup !
1000 sized. Anything bigger just becomes heavy for what i need it to do.

Well, went back to BPS today. I'm quite sad from it, that the quality of reels is WAYYYYY DOWN.
Returned mine for another Sahara, and someone brought one back that I had to take off the sticker, but then that one had the same problem as the Daiwa reel I bought earlier. The bail doesn't close everytime.
By the time the 2nd reel got there, it was finally a reel that worked properly.

I think the next reel purchase I'm making is when I'm actually making working and making my own payments. Hopefully by then, I could go JDM.
