Luck is one of my skills!
Went local after work. only had an hour or two before appointments.
wasnt gonna bother but the sky was overcast with no rain and its been hot as hell all week so i thought it was an opportunity i couldnt pass up.
arrived to this lovely view:
I had recently received some custom buggers from fellow member riverruns(thanks brother!). so i tied one on and lit a cigar
wouldnt you know right when my first toss hit the water a nice brown just absolutely destroyed it!
was a tough fight because the area had a strong current and lots of big rocks. it was smart and kept trying to wrap the line around said rocks. but i was able to turn it each time and finaly got it in.
after a few more spots and time running out without much more action i decided to drive 20 minutes further up to some known brook trout waters and see if i could get a couple.
sun started peeking through and the temperature was rapidly going up. i knew the conditions wouldnt last much longer.
nice slow runs in this area. very nice with meadows on either side of the water, plenty of air space for casting. lots of grasses/logs in the water.
guess it was a good choice as within a short time i started to get some hits and even managed to land a couple.
nothing big but any brookie is a gem in my eyes so im happy
all in all couldnt have asked for more considering it was a quick outing. didnt lose any flies or have to retie and got it all done within 2 hours
cheers everyone!
