that was my first ever brown and i was so happy when i got her so i decided to mount it, not the greatest of options but it may be the only female brown that i will ever keep, unless its the ontario or the world record one, then i may consider keeping another female brown

I think with recent technology, with few good HD pictures and measurements, they can replicate the same fish. Personally I am against keeping alpha gene pool.

You most definitely can have a taxidermist mount a fish with just pictures and measurements. No need to kill

Paul the cost varies a lot ive seen them as low as a few hundred and they can easily get to over a grand, check around and see

My dad was a taxidermist, I remember his prices were $10.75 an inch, But this is goin back 15 years lol

Paul, I strongly encourage you to either get a replica of a fish or just take a good picture and hang it on the wall. I take pictures on my phone and put them in albums of fish from each year, I look through them every once in a while and makes me just as happy, without taking a fish out of the system. To each their own tho...

After 3 fall seasons of chasing after salmon, I have finally accomplished my two goals: catch a fresh salmon from the pier and one in the river. This morning went out, started at a bigger trib and saw 1 guy lose a fish but nothing else going on, so I moved on to my regular creek. Instead of pulling out my pin, I took out my lure rod. This was my first time using a lure in the creeks. I worked my way downstream, casting to each spot that looked remotely fishy. I woke up at 5 am and by now it's 11am so I'm not overly confident anymore. Eventually I fished a spot well and then a salmon jumped downstream about 100ft, which I just caught out of the corner of my eye. This spot was fast moving and deep along the far bank and the rest was medium depth and slack water. I started casting where I thought I saw the fish jump and after about 5 minutes I started casting upstream and then reeling back into the slack water. Second cast doing this I was just staring at the ground while reeling in, I looked up, and I saw a huge dark shape following my lure downstream. It hit like a truck and flew around the pool. I was happy to know to know that I didn't snag/floss it. Eventually I got it close, but it dashed upstream and underneath the log that I had forgotten about. I waded out and it was deep water but I was desperate, so I lifted up the log and passed the rod underneath the log. Everytime I almost had it beached it would somehow dash out of the shallows and get caught in the fast current, then I'd have to chase it downstream. I did manage to beach it and man, it was a big fish, definitely 25lbs, possibly 30. The pic does not do any justice. Big thanks to PUMP, I never would have tried lures if it weren't for your videos!!!!!

Ya I know it's a boot but it was alot of fun.

@Catfish

Great boot. Its great to work for it as you did and land it. This year was the first year I used lures and BOY did it work. I started bringing my DSLR camera with me fishing, but its a pain to carry so usually stays in my car when Im out.

Ill pass the buck and dont thank me.. thank the guys on the boards with their input on the Rapala thread I started in early Sept.. Team Effort..

Helllooo dolly! Spent the day yesterday floating the upper Kenai river and caught some Dolly Varden. Winter is almost here as it snowed pretty good for a while. What a great day on a spectacular setting.
