can someone explain to me what it means catching a brookie? Ive caught tons of perch that size, why are brookies a big deal?LOL
 
FishGirl - they're beautiful fish and its a big deal for remy because thats probably the biggest fish he's caught out of a river on his righteous fly rod.

See what I mean... beautiful fish that can be very tricky to catch.

 
Brook trout aka brookies are herder to catch then perch, and IMHO are way cooler looking and the scenery in which you find them are pretty amazing. lol at Remy's biggest fish being a brookie

personally catching a wild brookie is rewarding because they're becoming harder to find in Southern Ontario also, they're akin to the canary in the coal mine- indicator species. They're beautiful native fish

+1, definitely my favourite looking trout, just gorgeous fish.

yeah really should have been just fly fishing but I could not find a witty way to put that down and be suitable for the thread,
