from their facebook page.....so be careful

I am under the understanding last night that the port hope police cleared out the parking lot south of the cnr bridge there was over 40 cars parked there and a few campers and they gave them 40 minutes to leave the area, they have signs up but have never enforced that area of the river. apparently you are no longer allowed to park here between 11 pm and 4 am ..

Salmon season in full swing... very very glad to see our local police department officers in plain clothes checking and charging people for no fishing licences and open beer and gutting fish on the river ... its about time and hats off to the local police force.. the hundreds of fish thank you

Finally. There will only be another 50,000 salmon being gutted, filleted, and snagged during the next 3 weeks.

yep was there last night, it was worse then shoulder to shoulder, lots of gutted salmon ( and the white bucketeers taking those salmon, which isnt a bad thing actually ) fish being pulled in every minute, saw a guy almost fall off the rocks, saw a 40 pounder caught ( weighed on 2 scales ) and me well just my luck i didnt get a fish. i didnt see the cops or anything, i was there from 10-4, lots of browns steel and chrome salmon, the sign at the parking lot says no parking after 11 but it was 2 when i had to go back to the car and there was still at least 40-50 cars there

well after the the end of september, there's literally no where to fish that river since the rail track is like 200 yards from the mouth

I was happy to see mnr and peel marine unit out there quite heavily this weekend and I would just like to add I have seen mnr 3 times in the past 2 weeks which is more than ive seen them in my whole life before so maybe they are listening to us and taking complaints seriously.

When I was there Saturday it was the first time I ever took a drive down that far in the river. There were tons of people fishing, I did see a fish jump, but it wasnt hooked. I didnt know or think you were allowed to fish there. The water is deep and slow moving, I didnt bother.

Hmmm, that river is relativly easy to fish much further up and spots with shade. I could,t see myself fishing it from all the way down there. No good place to land the fish as well tons of boulders and logs in the water from what I could see.
Also the footing on the bridge is there. Fish would just have to get the line to touch the concrete footings and he would be gone!

I was talking about in the extended season when everything from north of CN is closed, but I agree, up stream has much nicer spots.

The reason that they made everyone leave on that side was because of the new no camping by-law. So if you see people there with campers and tents tell them to pack it up or leave because that's why everyone had to leave. If they have to make one leave they have to make everyone leave so there is no Grey area. Also that night the cleaning station was a disaster. Had to be over 100 salmon carcasses all over the floor and blood all outside. The people that run it were pissed.
