Tips for fishing for Muskies on Pigeon Lake for the 1st time

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and I mainly fish for bass and occasionally Walleye. I've made some plans to fish Pigeon Lake for Muskies. It'll be a first for me, both being at Pigeon and fishing for Muskies. I have heavy gear ready to go and plan to fish with large crankbaits. Can anyone help me with some hotspots and tips? I'll be renting a boat at either Pigeon Lake Resort or Sugar Bush Cottages unless there are other boat rentals close to hotspots if someone can tell me. Any help for a newbie will be great as I hope to bring home something :mrgreen: ( in terms of Photos, won't be keeping any Muskies).

dead horse island is great for muskie in the morning...i caught one there at 9:30 am in the summer of 1994 as well as in the summer of 1982 so there has always been muskie there....be very careful of the rock shoals that lie just below the surface of the water....used a red bucktail larger than a size 5 mepps.goodluck!

I've seen people fishing for them in the south side close to Emily PP.

I believe they were throwing big big crankbaits along the weed edge of the channel that goes down to omemee.

Sounds exciting!

Weedlines around Big Island can give up a musky; fish the side where the wind is blowing that day. Another producer on Pigeon is trolling cranks in open water around schools of baitfish if you can mark them on your finder (this method usually produces the bigger girls). I would recommend picking up a large spinnererbait, so you can fish through weeds, whereas on Pigeon this time of year there is a plenty.

Ski's should be beginning to put the feedbag on for the fall/winter, nail a biggun!

There is alot of muskys in the SOUTH END eh! Read my forum on the other site fer kawartha anglers.

I've caught Muskie in the Gannon Narrows and just south of there in front of the marina. You may even get a few walleye there also. I used a 5" gold Rapala (floating) with a few shot sinkers so it swims a couple of inches below the surface and the technique was jerk baiting. Very productive late morning.

I fished pigion alot for muskie well 20-30 times about i dont see it on map but hurracane point and near pirete cove just up from rocky pt you see some ilands there its good caught alot in there over the years east side were its shows muskie is very deep olivers pt and there are some good weed beds there yellow colored lures big hair jigs/spinner bait leos husky jerk shad raps seamed to work well good luck
