I book a fishing trip with my group of friends every summer. Last year we hit the Key River and got SKUNKED.
Being the one that books the trips I get blamed for the lack of fish. This year I plan on being prepared by learning as much as I possibly can about the waters we're fishing.
This year we're heading up to Moon River in mid-July.
Does anyone have ANY tips for fishing these waters?
Spots?
Techniques?
Favourite lures or baits?

Ive never fished Moon but have fished the French, Nipissing and Pointe Au Baril area of Georgian Bay. Not sure what your fishing for but mid July generally isn't a great time to fish. Try early spring or late fall. I'm heading to Pleasant Cove Lodge in Pointe au Baril this Sunday for the walleye and pike opener. I will send pics when I get back

I would like to get pike, walleye and or muskie during the day and maybe some channel cats at night. Whatever's biting really.
I just don't want to get skunked again so I thought I'd try tapping into the vast resource that is the internet.

Try Nipissing, it has all the food groups. When I'm up there I usually stay with Tama Kwa. Nico will put you on fish for sure. He knows the lake like the back of his hand.

I fish the Moon once or twice a year, usually in the spring and fall when the fish move in or out of Gbay. For walleye troll worm harnesses at 1.5 mph in 8-12foot water with good cabbage growth, any faster and you'll get into pike and the incidental musky. That works in the spring, by Mid July you may have to find deeper water say 15-25 fow.

The hotter the weather and brighter the sky, the deeper the fish.

To battle this, fish as early in the morning or late in the evening (before dusk) as you can...or fish deeper, faster flowing water.

The Moon is loaded with fish...so just be patient, try different things and if nothing is working, use live bait - minnows/leeches.

Green jigheads tiped with Leech or minnows work for Walleye I heard. Pike they hit almost anything, but I have had my best luck on a Perch-like Rapela, Live target sells afew realy nice ones, I buy mine at (Bait Tackel and more) in Mactier just north of the Moon or they have a shop over by Bala too., Bass wise They take alot of diff baits as well, I have had my best luck on a jighead a Green twister-tail, but others like to use topwater for them too., Only real Problem is the Smallies in the Moon are infested with worms. The Pike and Walleye seem cleaner thou
