Hey guys,

Going camping up in Tobermory this coming weekend and curious as to what the fishing's like there if any of you have been? Most likely fishing from the shore, not sure which spot/area yet perhaps someone can make some recommendations, and may also be fishing on a canoe as well.

Anyone been? Suggestions? I'd imagine there's some good fish there.

I been to tobermory many times but havnt fished it before cause the water is very clear and blue. If there are any fish I would believe they aare in the deep channels. There are some lakes around like cameron lake that has bass and walleye but I had no luck last time when I was there in even having a nibble. Let us know if you find fish there!

HEY TIAGO,

i just went to tobermory, theres a nice bait and tackle store that can get you a fishing charter. its called g+s watersports ltd. where are you camping, cyprus lake? a little south of tobermory is a lake called cameron lake. Apparently its the best walleye fishing in northern ontario. please pm me with some info on where your camping. i can help you with the spots

also there is a harbour called little tub harbour that has some fishing for bass, perch, and some more fish. If u face the harbor from the dock, turn right and then you will see a bait and tackle store on your right. They will give u a map on where to fish

If you can find some trail maps up there, there is a trail from Cameron Lake that leads out to GB. The water is extremely clear and if you pick out a high vantage point you will see huge boulders on the bottom of the bay. Once you pin-point some of these boulders, move down lower to where you can cast to them. Then enjoy some great Smallie action, some big ones around these rocks. Don't let the water deceive you, 20 ft of water may look like it is only 4 ft deep, the water is so clear. Also lots of Perch and Panfish, and I'm sure a Pike or Walleye or 2, but lots of Bass up to 6 lbs  .
Not sure if there are any available from shore but one of the original stockings of Splake took place at the pier in Lionshead not far away about 35 or 40 years ago. We were up there at what was Cyprus Lake PP at the time, 5000 or so 2 lb Splake were dumped in the water at the pier, they weren't sure what to do so they hung around the pier for a few weeks before dispersing into the bay. We caught lots and at my age at the time it was lots of fun and we had good feeds every night.

Yes there are some of those. But they are natives. If you don't bug them they won't bug you.
