Trolling rod holders

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I am planning to get into musky trolling more this summer and I want to build my own rod holders. I have an old 14 foot alumacraft. Just wondering what you guys have done for your rod holders.

BPS sells a pair thats like 20 something bucks a pair, if im not mistaken,

Thanks. I looked them up and they seem good for the money, but im a little skeptical that they will hold up they will hold up to a 9 ft rod with a double 13 or a 12" crank bait on the end. Does some one know how I could make one that would be for sure durable enough?

Salty's rod holders are the only way to go. They will hold up to anything, simple to release and you can face the rods down so the rod tips are under water.

Don't buy the bps ones they are complete junk. A buddy of mine found that out the hard way. Returned the broken ones and picked up some scotty orcas...

Well.. I had some time the last couple days and I built my own. It will hold a casting or a spinning rod and seems sturdy enough for musky lures . I think I'll also get a salty or a folbe eventually, but hey, This was free.

Buy a Down East dual clamp Salty S-10, or a S-17 bolt on. Best rod holders for musky trolling period. I troll baits up to 21" long at 6mph and I have never had a problem.

If I were you I would spend the $35-$50. The last thing you want with a 30lb musky on the end of a line is trying to get a bungee cord off your rod. The S-10 and S-17 allows you to angle your rod anyway you like. This is key when you are precision trolling for muskies.

When mounting the rod holders try to mount them near the back of the boat if possible. This allows for making sharp turns easier without running over your line.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll be ordering myself a couple salties.
What is the difference in s10's and s17's. Also do I have to worry about them chewing up my cork handles?
