Just want to know from the guys here what you think about this combo. I'm pretty close to LeBaron and check them out. Is this at least decent for the price?

SWEET DEAL in my opinion!

Look, it's obviously not the "Best", but seems to be very capable for PIER FISHING if that's what your thinking.

Ugly sticks make good rods (little heavier, but decent too handle all conditions)

I have found that 12 lb mono, works GREAT for the Salmon.

- Not too HEAVY

- Not too Light

Good for casting and allows enough line on the average reel (Not small or ultralights) to give you enough when the big guys run.

Lebarons has good service and decent warranties as well.

For that type of money, it's really a NO LOSE situation.

Course like everything, Let us know how it works.

The Ugly Stiks are usually pretty good rods especially considering the price. I was at Bass Pro on the weekend and considered picking up a 7'0 rod as a backup.

I have not heard the best things about the Shakespeare reels that come stock on the combos but for that price you can't really go wrong.

just picked this up today...it's 9'2", lot's of anglers shopping for jointed lures. everyone's going for salmon these days. don't know which store is cheaper lebaron or basspro but the selection is pretty good there too.
